East Anglian Classic Marshals

June 19th sees the next big CMC event, the East Anglian Classic Historic Rally.

The format this year will be similar to last time with a day of road sections and two visits to Wethersfield for tests. The tests will be a little different this year with some much longer and more like the Targa tests of last weekend.

We are effictively running a road rally and a Targa at the same time so the need for help is great. We welcome anyone who can help us, whether watching some cones on the tests or running a test start/finish or out in the lanes running time controls.

If you have been a 12-car crew this season we would be very pleased to hear from you too. The regularity crews need to be able to find their controls out in the lanes as well as operate a watch accurately so your rally experience would be very useful.

Please keep June 19th free ( it's a Sunday this year ) and come and see some of the finest historic rally cars in the country. Registration is now open via the website. If you have any questions please post on this forum and I'll get back to you.

EAC Marshals for Wethersfield June 19th please.

We are still seriously short of Marshals to help with the tests at Wethersfield.. In fact we need another 20 or more.

Most of the other clubs we rely on to help provide marshals have their own events on June 19th. and we need anyone in CMC who can be available. If there is only one CMC event you help on this year make it this one because we really need you.

Since the tests don't start until a civilised time in the morning you don't even need to be up at the crack of dawn to be there. I know it's Father's Day.......bring the Family along!

Don't think we are crying 'Wolf' again. This time we mean it! Please register on this website (in the top corner of the Home page)

Thanks,

Tony Burchnall ( CM )

Urgent Reminder - EAC Marshals Wethersfield 19 June

May I endorse Tony Burchnalls appeal for help please.

This is a non taxing Sunday outing - arrival after 9.30 bring wives ,parents children ( but no pets please).

Anybody that just only ever competes on our events should "put something back" in to the club here please.  We have an enormous club membership and have a  good hard core than marshal regularly , but we need extra help for this one.

Chairman Jim

Marshals Still Needed Sunday 19th

Not many replies on here with valid excuses .

I have chased some targa regulars and pleased to confirm Andy Bainbridge is coming, & I have rounded up a few others including Jeremy Otefisan, & Spike with Ibrahim Begh.

Alan Coombs had a baby (!) last Sunday so thats a valid excuse  , and I know a few are going to Le Mans

Many thanks

We are indebted again to all those who came from far and wide to marshal to make yesterday's EAC such a success.

The tests at Wethersfield were said at the awards presentation to be possibly the best of the entire HRCR Clubmans' Championship and we have already had high praise for the quality and friendliness of the marshals there.

The IRTC team of seven crews was magnificent. We couldn't hope to work with nicer, more competent, more reliable people.

On behalf of Paul Barrett and Jim and Geoff, thanks to everyone at Wethersfield.

On behalf of Paul Brewerton and the EAC Team our thanks go to every one of the 70+ individuals involved in making this probably the slickest East Anglian Classic. Appropriately, like clockwork.

Next Generation

I'd like to add my thanks to all the marshals, especially those we didn't see to thank as we were having great fun slinging the little white mini around the tests. Special mention must go to Katie Andrews, Louise Clements, young Mr. Clayton and Valentina Rodriguez Diaz who must be our youngest marshal yet! Just goes to show that the EAC is truly a family affair with marshals from 3 to 70+; the future is looking good.

Thanks again

Paul

EAC thanks

We had a fantastic day marshalling IRTCs, lovely locations for our three controls and we had some time to pop into Wethersfield to have a quick look at some cars going round the tests. Sofia enjoyed timing to the second and she admitted she misses competing and coming out to marshal more often. It was great to see all these beautiful cars, Valentina enjoyed the variety of colours...

Big thanks to Paul, Tony and the rest of the team for an excellent day out and to all the competitors for their appreciation and smiles even on arrival at the IRTCs (I take it must be very stressful). We spoke to a few locals and cyclists who were very happy to see the historic cars and very impressed by all the compeitor's behaviour on the road. Well done, everyone!!

Thanks for a great father's day!

Adding our thanks

Ellen & I were so happy after the EAC - it was just about perfect, great route with little traffic, varied tests, smooth organisation.  We are really grateful to Paul, Peter, Tony, John, Alan, Tony, Kelly, Jim, Tony, Paul, Gary, Geoff, Chris, Dave - and all the others who made it possible but who I have missed out or I cannot name.  For so few marshals to do such a brilliant job is so impressive.  Proud again of what CMC can achieve.

Thanks Colin

Thanks Colin - and you got a first in class too, as well as cheering Andy Manston up with the 'ooh lovely splashy splashy' approach to the puddle. There were a lot more puddles at Wethersfield on Saturday but it does seem to dry out pretty quickly.

Well done both of you.

East Anglian Classic June 18th Marshals

I've just checked the forum posts I wrote for last year's EAC and exactly the same applies this time. Here we are again!

This year's format will be the same as 2016 with the tests based at Wethersfield and around 140 miles of road rally in addition. Consequently we need every marshal we can find to cover it.

The road rally has a lot of regularity sections which require marshals who are happy to work independently with a watch and find their controls too. Anyone with some road rally experience, either as a marshal or competitor would be completely 'at home' doing time controls on the road. It would be a great opportunity to give a little back to the club if you have been doing, say, the 12-car series as competitors. We need about 10 crews on the road this year, so more than ever.

The tests at Wethersfield will be very similar to a Targa. We need people who can act as spotters, run passage checks and also operate watches to time the tests. Again, if you have been doing the Targa series as competitor, this is the ideal event to give a little back and you will be familiar with what to expect. We will promise some great cars to watch and an excellent atmosphere. We'll look after you as well.

As happened last year, we clash with Fathers' Day. This presents the unique opportunity for getting the whole family out to see what Father gets up to when he has a day off! Everyone will be given a job.

Please register on the Marshal Registration section. If you have any questions please post here and I'll answer them.

Please book June 18th to help us. You'll enjoy it.

Tony Burchnall CM EAC.
