Jumbo Javalin Targa Sunday 20th May - Marshals Final Instruction

Marshal Registration closed a few days ago , but all the Registered Marshals should have received their Final Instruction yesterday.

If anyone hasn't recieved theirs please contact me immediately.

Amazing that the event had a dozen reserve entries a week ago , and now there are just 3.

Fabulous

Yet again, a brilliant weekend at Wethersfield for the Javalin's Jumbo Targa. At the Finish of Tests 1 and 6, and then the Start of Tests 15 and 19, we did not hear a single whinge from any competitors - always excepting of course the occasional overheard "Why did we go right when I said go left at FF ?? " coming from a car.  Such success is always due, of course, to the prior planning and attention to detail that Chelmsford MC is well known for,

For future events, can we ask that the caterers are required to be able to offer something other than bacon or burger ? Although she loves marshalling as much as I do, Mrs Dryhen has been a veggie for over 30 years and only agreees to be out of bed at 06.00hrs on a Sunday when she's promised a double-egg roll and coffee on arrival at Wethersfield. Frankly, to call yourself a caterer and not be able to fry an egg or two for someone who will not eat a piece of an animal is simply not acceptable !

Targa Marshal Thanks & EA Classic Marshal plea + Eggs

May I pass on my thanks to my co-organisers and marshals for your hard work,   and to the competitors for your good humour , on what was a tough and competitive event yesterday.

Tony Burchnall is looking for marshals on the clubs next event - the East Anglian Classic on Saturday 16th June.    THIS IS AN IDEAL OPPORTUNITY FOR TARGA COMPETITORS THAT DO NOT MARSHAL ON THE CLUBS OTHER EVENTS TO "GIVE A BIT BACK TO THE CLUB" - PLEASE.

George - your Caterer comments acknowledged.  It was a late call in finding Clearwater Coffee and I know they could have done a more varied offering - if I'd asked them. They were happy with their day and if they come again I promise to arrange a veggie option.

EAC Road Marshals

JIM,

Thanks for the pitch for EAC Marshals. This year we have several more IRTC crews needed in addition to test marshals.

We would be very pleased to hear from anyone with Road Rally marshalling experience, or experience as a competitor on 12-cars, to deal with Regularity controls. It isn't a difficult job but you will need to be able to find your controls reliably from a map. Otherwise it's pretty similar to other road timing and we'll explain it all and make sure that you are happy running your control.

It is best done with two people as a crew as there may be navigation handouts to issue as well as looking after a time clock and checksheet.

We do also need some more test marshals for Thorpe Abbotts, as timekeepers and spotters on the tests. It won't mean a silly-early start, nor a very long day and you'll have time to see the great little museum and use their cafe too.

Please register on the webpage or, if you have any questions post here or pm me. Thanks.

Tony Burchnall EAC CM.

EAC Test Marshals

We would still be pleased to have some extra help with the East Anglian, particularly with the tests at Thorpe Abbotts. It won't mean a silly-early start or a late finish and you'll have chance to look round the museum at lunchtime.

Saturday, June 16th, three runs at each test, good weather, a good entry, Suffolk and the only CMC event to bring you a proper Porsche 911. It will be the only place to be seen.

Please register on line or pm me. Hope to see you there,

Tony. CM.

Marshalling

Love this event, but the medication I've just started is making me ill!  Tried to ring/text Paul Brewerton to apologize, but seem to have wrong number for him.  It is "not recognised", which may be a cause of problems later if others have the same version.

Thanks

Hi Anne

Thanks for trying to let us know. Hope you get over the medication sicknees soon. My phone number hasn't changed for ages unlike my email address! It is 07702 113684 for future reference.

We did have a full complement of marshals, to all of whom I send my warmest thanks on behalf ot the organising team.

Thanks to all EAC Marshals

Thanks very much to everyone who turned out to marshal for the EAC yesterday.

I think the turnout ( over70 ) is the best we have had and a tremendous response. We even had some turn up at Thorpe Abbotts unexpectedly, which was a very pleasant surprise. I've tried to contact directly those for whom I have an email address but for those who have been missed, we really appreciate your help.

We hope you enjoyed your day. Please pass these thanks to anyone who also helped with you. You are invaluable.

Tony Burchnall. Chief Marshal.

I echo that!

I echo Tony's thanks to the marshals for a superb turnout and wonderfully efficient job done. I would also like to add my personal thanks to all the EAC 2018 team - Alan, Tony, Ann,Tony, Kelly, Brian, Matt, Ian, Gavin, John, Paul B, Jim, Geoff, Carl, Damian, Paul H, Peter, Karen, Owen and his team.  I think yesterday was the best EAC since I've been CoC, and certainly the first with no queries on the results so I guess we got it right this time, which gives us something to live up to next year! There were a couple of slight glitches, all down to me of course, but a bit of quick thinking and valuable cooperation from the hotel and fuel halt soon sorted those!

Thanks again everyone. Time to start planning EAC19, although I might give myself a couple of days off!

and the residents on route!

I must add my thanks to all the residents on the route who came out in numbers to watch and wave at the cars, if any of them wander on here and read this. Just goes to show that a good PR job brings positive reactions!

I think we may have forgotten to pcik up the stake and board at the start of the tripmeter calibration route. If anyone is in the area can they please pick it up to avoid confusing the locals!
