You should have details soon - ECS meeting last night to confirm route and times.
I'm competing now! My first stage rally. Out with Damien in the Proton, I think. Should be great fun and even better if there are lots of familiar faces about. Any tips from more experienced stage co drivers?
I'm not a co-driver, but:
Relax, and don't worry about the road timing!
It's my first stage rally too
Tom Ward, when asked, gave the helpful of advice of "just remember left is left, and right is right!"
Suze, and don't get them mixed up, particularly near the dykes!!
It goes with out saying really but just remember to tighten your belts as much as possible especially around your lap. The sea wall will be where you realise you could haven't done them up tight enough and your ass comes out the seat on the bumpy track.
And use your trip. The road sections last year were tuliped. The car infront obviously didn't have a trip and missed the junction completely and then didn't turn up until after we had been waiting at the next stage for 10 minutes. They lasted about 30 seconds on stage when they went straight on into a field instead of 45 right on the track.
I'll be ok with L and R Richard, it's Matt that needs reminding!
Hence the pointing that goes on at points on gymkhanas....
Thanks Karen, I always do my belts up as tight as possible - and then do them again, and again to be sure!
I'd heard that the road sections are tuliped.
Having done the event about ten times with a few top-five finishes under my belt I can offer a little advice:
Take the OS 168 map and navigate from that on the road sections. I've never used a trip but it would be useful on the 1200m straight if its dusty (just keep shouting flat until you see the arrows and don't brake until you've past the first one)
The stage diagrams and roadbook instructions are usually to be taken with a pinch of salt - especially on the airfield- but try and get the key information from the tulips onto the stage diagram; you will have plenty of time to do this before the stages as the road sections are long and there's often a bit of waiting around so don't worry about plotting it all after signing on.
The road timing is 'advisory' so just go with the flow.
Enjoy.
Thanks everyone. I just want to enjoy the experience as I didn't think I'd be doing this at all.
The Essex Charity Stages is just 2 weeks away on July 5th.
Is there anyone available to help Chelmsford MC run a stage on this local event?

Had a great day out on my first stage rally. We had a lot of fun and good to see so many smiles on the day. Pretty chuffed with the result. Thanks to those who marshalled
Thanks to all the smiley CMC faces at the weekend. Thoroughly enjoyed it, despite our excursion!
A BIG THANKYOU TO EVERYONE BEHIND THE SCENES THAT MADE THIS RALLY HAPPEN, !

This relies on ongoing enthusiasm from unpteen individuals-
I'm sure that every Crew out there would echo my comment-
It really is apprieciated.!
If anyone out there feels they would like to get involved in future events get in touch. The more help the better

I had a look at "http://essexstages.co.uk/" page but couldn't see 2010 ECS results, do you have a web link to them?
They aren't online anywhere yet, but this thread was about last year's event!
Oh yes - the wonders of doing a web word search and assuming it is current :^) I think a gear box advert search went the same way!
Electronic results received this am, unfortunately I have only just got back in , we have been clearing the stages up since 9. I will try and put them on in the next hour.
Results now on the website WAc or Essex Stages.
Sorry for the delay

I'd heard a rumour that the ECS regs were out and after a bit of hunting found the link in this post (CMC's events page only links to the WAC club website which is still promoting Middlewick and asking for marshals for the EACS Endurance (thanks for your help). A Google search for Essex Charity Stages didn't turn anything up either.
With entries for local events a bit low at the moment you may want to make yourselves a bit more prominent guys.
Our entry is on its way. Who else is entering from CMC?
