Quiz Night 15th February
7 January, 2007 - 17:29
Can we get a thread running on entries for Jim's quiz on 15th Feb please. Apparently it is not exclusively motor sport much more general knowledge but no Big Brother questions according to Jim. Teams of 4 required, and it is open to all Clubs in the region. Australians need not apply, you've won too much already.

Oh yes. Lots of people read our forums because they are informative, funny and most of all ACTIVE.
On Thursday 15th Feb I am organising a light hearted quiz, teams of 4, no individual questions and NOT all about cars/motorsport. There will be a music round and I may entertain daft requests for specialist subjects. . . .
If Wickford bring Chantelle with them I WILL OF COURSE include a Big Brother round!
With a team of 4 a member from say Falcon or Kings Lynn could come with a "wife & 2 kids" and represent the club without too much effort on a winters night.
The Lewsey/Clandon clan can form the aforementioned Wickford team. Pete & Michelle can start the SCCON team.
Chelmsford MEMBERS CAN FORM AS MANY TEAMS AS THEY LIKE - so start giving me some silly team names to get the ball rolling.
Aim for an 8.30 for 8.45 start & finish at 10.15 with a few picture questions whilst drinking and making a noise.
Jim
Jim,
Is there an option for those tricky little questions?
- 50/50(drivers,navi's on the opposing teams)
- ask the marshalls
- phone a scrutineer
If so I think the SG team might just be considering an entry.
I assume you have applied for an MSA permit? you know how fussy they can be, we might mention the word road or rally in the same sentance in one of the questions or answers.
cheers
Pete
Jim,
Is there a link for the entry form? Can we use mobile phones or hand signals during the quiz?
So many questions ....
Cheers
Pete
I'm sure some 'helpful' hand signals may be given during the event
OK Pete Oddcar thats a team from SG then
So what does SG stand for ?
Sad Guys Surly Gorillaz Stupid Gits
There is no entry form , no fee and I'll tell you the rules on the night.
Hi Jim
We had our committee meeting and I can confirm Wickford will entering at least 3 tables.
Charlotte & Rob (Landon) will of course not be on the WAC 'winning team' as they are not members.
I did mention this to Green Belt - I will remind them at the weekend.
We have a CMC team:
Paul Barrett
Tom Ward
Mark Andrews
Tony Clements
If TC can't make it the rest of us may just have urgent appointments elesewhere!
Jim, based on the teams so far perhaps you could have some questions for the oldest member of the team and another round with some Q for the youngest member of the team - would lead to some interesting finger pointing, protests and 'visits to the bar'! ~:-)
Jim
we will be just the two SG's
SG can stand for anything you would like it to - I dont think Surly Gorillaz is a good fit the others are just fine.Your call!
Its Paul and Peter Brewerton, Matt wont make it as he is at Uni.
I think there might be some other CMC teams. Theres an email from the Guv BJ doing the rounds, and if no one wants to join our team
Cheers
Pete
I need a team to join, but hey, I have enough bulk to make up my own.
Hi Gavin
Just spoke to Ed and you are more than welcome to join him and his niece and hubby (charlotte & Rob).
Have two more teams on the way Stansted Flyers, Mr Bob Blows and Ms Sue Speller and South Essex Mafia with Mr Gordon Milbank and Neal Allsopp. Need 3 more to make up two teams of four, alternatively if we get another 7, 3 could join my in the GOM team. [Grumpy Old Men]
Ed Call and possibly Keith Lane will be coming to join the Mafia. What a formidable team that will make! Or maybe not me thinks!!
Yep sounds good to me - Shall we confuse everyone and enter as Wickford?????
Pete, is there room on your team for another SG with a differently-odd car>
Nick
Nick please join us you'll be more than welcome.
Paul
Hi Jim
Do you require Team Names before the night.
What about WACky Racers?????
Thanks for that Mr Leech
- we may use that- or was you referring to your Team name??
Also there could be More WACky Racers or WACky Racers Too.....
Hi Rallygirl
I only really need team names for forum amusement so I have pencilled Charlotte Rob & Gavin down as NOT THE WACky Racers for the time being. This means you can be the Real WACky Racers or similar !
Pete & Paul - you never did tell me what SG stood for - do you want some further advertising for your ? car storage enterprise ? How about calling your team Brewertons Troop or Troupe !?
Hi Jim
Dont forget to put Ed down on there team.
I spoke to our teams and they quite like the idea of WACky racers 1 and 2. Perhaps you should include team names on the night, might be a giggle, especially if P& P are the majorette troupe,
lets hope they wear the outfits to match?
Is that troop, troupe or toupee...... I could do with the latter.
Hi Jim
Just to confirm there will be at least 2 teams from WAC, Unfortunately Chantelle will not be in attendance - rumour has it she is going back into the bb house? otherwise I sure she would have come along!
Come on lets have some more teams. I'm putting a lot of work in on this quiz.
Please be at the club by 20.40
Jim
Hi Jim
Given our combined ages and our preferred style of rally car, Peter, Nick Pope and myself will be entering as The Historics. We still have one place available if anyone is interested.
Paul
you've mis-spelled that, isn't there an 'e' in there some where.

Then there is an "U R" for you country folk...
Chris, Paul B, Tony M and me. Or that's what we said at the finish of the Jan Jaunt. Hope that's still ok gents. Any ideas for a team name?
Andy
Norfolk Enchance, that be us
old joke but a goodie
Peter C

Or should that be Norfolk Engood.....
Love you really..
ooh i'm going to scratch your eyes out

And Peter, in Diss you are just a couple of miles from being Suffolk Engood.
Got to draw the line somewhere though!
Got to draw the line somewhere though!
It is possible to have a Diss postcode and live in Suffolk
Got to draw the line somewhere though!
didn't the North Folk call suffolk and essex the bank of Danegeld?
where we live we are about 300 meters from being in Suffolk? just like the wild west frontier we have to be on the lookout for undesirable types. doesn't bother me i'm an imigrant, come from a long way away.
all the post codes around here are suffolk (IP) ones. i can't tell you if the specific Diss codes reach across the river, but i suspect so. the Golf club is on the wrong side of the river but is still on the outskirts of the town so i suspect it is still Diss.

just goes to show how thin the line is between norfolk engood and suffolk engood.
See you on Thursday. Paul.
Thin lines are what make the difference 'tween one grid square and the next.LWR - or not LWR that is the question... Ditches however have a much more instant - geographical and physical presence
I reckon that you owd Suffolk & Norfolk chaps should be a bit careful because you most ave ditches.
Anyway"the" quiz of the new millenium will take place in Essex CM postcode.Very civilsed
Boss,
Chief marshall Preston, autotester extruudinaire, and French /Jap car enthusiast with an appetite for going quick - do you have any banter to add?
I know you have been busy with the questions BUT YOU STARTED IT!
Sorry Jim - it was BJ that got it going...
Hi Jim, do you have room for another table of four?
We are all old boys, not very motorsport orientated so not too many rally questions please. I think we'll call ourleves 'The Dogs'. Do you need names?
Im also trying to get a table of yougsters along, if i do they can be 'The Wags'. Will let you know.
See you about 20.30?
John
Hi John V
Both your teams are more than welcome.
You can play both of your jokers on non motor sport rounds- especially if you know more about Sex than Motoring!
I've also got a team from Mike Thomas coming ( which we'll call Nitrous Solutions until otherwise advised) and I 'm hoping for a team from the St Albans Rover Centre Turner Falcon clan.
Keep the teams coming. Please all aim to start at 20.45.
Jim
Hi Jim
I will see if I can get another team together from WAC as it's our club night tonight.
Just to confirm that the conboy clan +1 will be entering a team tomorrow night
Thanks John Conboy Clan
Clare Abrey is bringing a team from West Suffolk - excellent news.
Hi Jim,
Just to confirm the DOGS and the BAGS (not WAGS) will be with you tomorrow. Be prepared for some stiff competition, we're really up for it! What's first prize by the way?
Anyone need someone with far too much knowledge of rallying, a fair bit of knowledge of Music, and lots of other bits of useless knowledge like Uno part numbers !
See you all there tonight.
Cheers
Matt
See you all there tonight.

Matt
i think we could do with another emigree on the norfolk team, or should we have a Devon team with a norfolk invader?

I hope you all enjoyed it - I enjoyed organising it . . . and I'm thinking about a few improvements for next year before you lot suggest them!
Basic format will be the same . Teams of 4 encouraging other clubs to send teams. I may even have to limit the numbers - we had over 50 "sat down" ( 14 teams) and I think 16 teams could be room capacity.
With help from my friends we'll "up the technology".
The picture rounds will be "on screen" as you seemed able to get drinks all night without a break.
The music will be delivered through a laptop and be much better. There may be a 10 question round with no jokers but I may have a 5 qu music joker option round as well.
Dave - the screen results were brilliant
Well done all who took part. I will do an article for the club mag with the funniest answers.
The winners were The No Brainers ( Tony Clements Mark Andrews Matt Endean & Tom Ward 65 out of 70) with Anything Goes close behind ( a team from Sccon Pete/Michelle Morgan Stort Valley Chairman Peter Thorne and star performer Mike Juniper) - you will get one less mark for the reproductive organ cos you were given a mark for Petal and should've been Pistil
Jim
Jim, thanks to you and your helpers last night for a great social event. It ran slickly and had a good mix of rounds and questions - don't change too much for the next event. It was nice to see it was so popular. Hopefully see some results on the web soon?
yes thanks Jim it was rather fun
scrap the jokers altogether, totally useless things; we played ours on our worst rounds. wonder what the result would be if no jokers had existed?

well done jim what a great nights entertainment you had just the balance of questions thoroughly enjoyed it cant wait for the next one regards geoff
Here are the Quiz Results.
Great evening's entertainment,
Modern cars and WRC were our downfall - still what do you expect. My favourite question was the Vauxhall model names. Great idea.
Thanks to Jim and the team.
