Now with Sculthorpe 100% confirmed, the event is all set to go. Lots of top quality tests at Sculthorpe airfield and others (with no reversing or the alike) just top quality flowing tests.
Route is now finalised with some quality Norfolk lanes and only one plot n' bash section with the rest as pre-plot or marked maps.
With all this the only excuse not to be out is the lack of a classic car, and if this is the case we always need marshals.....
How can I pay by paypal? I can't see any link for it. Do I send it to an email address?
Looking forward to it now. Hopefully I can get to end of a rally without breaking the car or smashing into the scenery. It's been a while!
The East Anglian Classic Historic Rally is just over a week away and we are ready to roll. We have 41 entries and the weather forecast is fine and dandy. However, we could do with a few more marshals on the day particularly at RAF Sculthorpe.
If you have entered then thank you. Is there anyone you could drag along on the day to give us a hand?
If you have already offered to marshal then, again, thank you. Is there anyone you could bring along in the boot to help out?
If neither of the above apply and you are not, working, washing the dog, brushing your hair, in another country, or generally busy, then why not come along? Just think of the combination, nice weather, sandwiches, a flask of tea, deck chair, sun hat and cream, and the promise of some interesting Motorsport. What a better way to spend Saturday the 21st of April.
Please think on this and give our Chief Marshal Michael Juniper a call. 01245 473093, 07973 723256 or email juniper@freeuk.com
I have been spending the last few evenings doing the wiring harness for friend who is building a rear engined 1300 Kawasaki autograss Mini the first race is Sunday - as of this evening it now runs fine, but has no rear brake caliper mounts! The level of activity reminds me of this time last year when we were getting Dolly back into the land of automotive living, after nearly 25 years of sleep. It was a period when lots of hours were spent in the garage and many many favours called in from mates who could do this or that. I will remember the EAC 2006 for many reasons but the highlight driving the old Dolly up to the start on Saturday morning and getting through scrutineering and being quite happy with the car. We did retire at the end of the first Sculthorpe test with a broken fan and a radiator with a fan blade sized hole in it.And Yes Pete (Norfolk Correspondent) we did have plastic 155 13 tyres on - that was my deliberate choice because I simply did not have time or funds to fit anything else.
Hopefully this years prep will be a little less fraught with Dolly being a regular finisher - mind you if it breaks on tomorrow's 12 car well.....
Cant wait to FINISH the EAC.
I will do some phone calls tomorrow to try to get a few marshalls to come along.
Gavin, it seems we are down for scrutineering on Saturday, according to the finals. I'm assuming you didn't get the email I sent on the 24th March asking for Friday instead. I sent you another last night, you must get a lot of junk mail!
I assume this won't be a problem for us to slot in around 1905-1910 on Friday.
Cheers
Isaac
p.s. By the way you have two different map refs for the hotel on the first page of the finals. I assume the second is correct as it seems to make more sense on the map 631.5 178.5 not 631 179.5
Hi Gavin et al
As we are now booked into the hotel it would make sense for us to do scrutineering on friday evening too if thats OK.
Cheers
Paul and Peter
Another excellent event! As usual CMC delivers a great day full of superb tests (how much is a new set of Yokohamas!) and regularities. I can't remember an EAC where it has rained, and again the weather was perfect. Thanks to all the marshals and the excellent team of organizers. An excellent way to celebrate my fortieth birthday.
This bird flew over Norfolk and had a great time on a great event, which deserved many more entries. Yet again CMC deliver a quality event. Thanks to all.

PS
Was there something awry with the targets on Regularity F? Paul got ever so moody after we arrived 22 seconds late at TPF1
Thank you so much Matt and all the organising team and marshalls for a lovely day out. Lizzie, I and the Lancia had a really lovely time! Great tests and tough and interesting regularities. You've done it again, lads and lasses, another CMC 'classic' . Roll on next year!
...dear father I hope you don't want to literally roll on next year's event! But yes thank you to all the team, it was another cracker from CMC. Who decided on such fiendish regularities?! The 2008 event will have a lot to live up to. Many thanks.
A BIG thank you to everyone who helped on the EAC, all the marshals, committee members setting up Sculthorpe at 6 AM !! on Saturday and finally the team - top job thanks
Cheers

Paul,
Dont take it all on your side of the car - the tests at Brandeston also lost us precious places - Dolly just refused to move after I was a bit to heavy on the handbrake and it locked on solid - my shoulder still aches after heaving to get it to release, so that was a max on Brandeston 2 and Brandeston 1 I had to do a very long winded manouvre to get us through the gate at "I" dropping us to 37th B2 and 29th B1.
Thanks to all the organisers and marshalls - most of whom seemed to be from the Friday 12 car people - hence the reason that we often forgot to do the clock and or the trip - too busy chatting!!!
I think this should be the correct posting forum for the EAC?
Anyway, thanks to Matt, Gavin et al, for a superb event and also to whoever arranged the nice weather. Shame that regualrity F did not get cancelled, must bring more bribes/inducements next year.
On Brandiston, thanks Lizzie/Nick for missing gate I-I, we were catching you on our second lap and you missing it greatly helped. You are now a true CMC member.
What a good event. Superb organisation and the fastest results service in the west! We were pleased to finish this year, and but for a mistake in the pre-plot points that added 2+ miles to our distance for the very first regularity timing point we could have made the top 20. Well done to all the teams and especially the organisng team. Chelmsford take a bow - another triumph! (no pun intended)
Paul, Peter and Dolly.

We went for the 'don't crash' option which seemed the best all round.
I just remembered, at the end of two regularities (the one before lunch and another) was it just me (quite probably!) or was there no finish control? Just wondering - it doesn't detract from my enjoyment of the event!!

Just to confirm this years East Anglian Classic rally is running

There was a button on the page you see after entering. I've just sent a PayPal request to you instead.
Thanks Tony, payment sent.
I've just seen the (frightening) seeded entry list
Let's hope 13 can be a lucky number for some! I'm really looking forward to it though.
A quick question regarding scrutineering - are both crew members required (I presume not but it's worth checking)? Thank you.
Lizzie
We did have a winner a few years ago who started at 13 ---- No pressure
Regarding scrutineering, only the car and someone to drive it....

Have fun tonight but you WILL be in Norfolk next weekend......
Its OK Gavin, Dolly survived the 12 Car and we are ready and rearing to go on the EAC - see you on friday night!

Well done, I knew you would be OK. However, I suggest driving forwards next Saturday.... or did you mean raring to go?????

See you at Scrutineering.

You are right, it says 631 179.5 in the regs.
Guys. Yes, your email was in the "spam" box.... Friday is fine with me. The more the merrier.

A big thankyou to all the Marshals as without your support there we would not be an event.
We promise next time we will not be laughing so much.

The control just before lunch wasn't manned.
Some other events have lots of extra TP controls on the time cards to keep you guessing...
