AUTOCROSS!!
27 June, 2007 - 21:06
I thought I'd better use this forum!
Just to let people know that:
A) The date is Sunday the 19th,
B) Having now spoken to the farmer - the event will be held near Sawbridgeworth/Bishops Stortford.
C) The event will be open to all forms of transport covered by the Blue Book in the Autocross section.
D) If people want to race each other they are welcome, but the event will be geared up for people what might not want to trade paint or stone chips.
Any questions feel free to ask away!
Cheers
Michael

Now this sounds interesting
What needs to be done to the car to run??
i.e. saftey kit, glass etc...
Ok, there are various classes, which you can enter...
You can see the finer details in the blue book but here are a few bits for starters.
Lid, overalls, belt and fire extinguisher mandatory
Class A1,A2 - Standard(ish) production class under and over 1600cc std engine for that model, which includes inlet and exhaust manifolds NO LSD's or locked diff's, some interior has to be retained - see BB.
B,C,D - FWD or RWD Rally cars or Autocross cars - no interiors, different engines LSD's etc....
E: 4WD rally cars also including specials (acme rocket powered roller skates!
)
F: Junior Autocross got a young friend? then they can drive up to a 1400cc 8v std car (A1 rules)
G: Minicross cars....If I can we will invite them.
If people want to run together (and trade paint and stone chips
) thats fine - if they dont - thats fine also. I will try to make this event as user friendly as possible so if people want to test there new rally car - thats fine
Any more questions? feel free to ask!

it's great fun and a great way to practice left foot braking, scandinavian flicks and all sorts of other double entendres, a stage car will be ready as will an endurance spec car, though seating may be an issue for these, rules quote E12 which looks a bit ambiguous, a production seat is allowed as long as it has a locking mechanism, without actually stating the seat back needs to be locked in place, ie is a lever adjuster a locking mechanism, is a rotary adjuster not?

I was chatting with an AX scrutineer last night, and we covered that subject - no seat tipping mechanism is allowed and reclining is very iffy - though I have seen people lock the back rest to the seat base which I think is ok-ish

Regs now available at:

Been and checked out the Green Belt AX over the weekend.....Seems like class A is open for honours
!!!! LOTS OF INTEREST FOR THE CMC EVENT! Regs are being circulated NOW!!! They will be brought to the BBQ night - so be there!!!! or add a post and I will be in touch

The bit about a locking mechanism really relates to two door cars from decades ago where the front seats, which obvously tipped forward to allow access to the back seat, had no positive means of being locked when put back down into position - their rear edges just rested on the floor. Two dooor Morris Minors and, probably, early minis for example. Any modern production seat, whether the backrest adjustment uses a lever or a wheel, will meet E12. So long, of course, as it's in good condition and all works as it should!

Hi - not sure if I sent off a couple of entries for this - with so much going on I can't remember.
Irene
Contact Tom Peddle to see if he has your entry!
It's not how fast you go, its how late you brake.
Calling all entries: Not had too many entries so far for the autocross so if you are intending competing then please send them in sooner rather than later. Irene, I've not received your entries - if I receive 2 from the same person I'll only assume one entry!
Cheers Tom
I will get a couple sent off to you.
EVENT NEARLY HAS 20 ENTRIES, PROBABLY MORE AFTER THE WEEKEND!
DON'T DELAY SEND YOUR ENTRY IN TODAY!
It's not how fast you go, its how late you brake.
Just sent 4 entries off today! Ian Barnard from Green Belt is going down to Portsmouth for AX 2morrow - he will spread the word.
We could do with a few more marshals so if you are competing, please bring your friends and family along for a spot of flag waving!
I will ask at our Club Night on Monday Tom
Tom
can you send us some joining instructions please. i can't guarentee we'll make it but it is the plan at present

Hi Peter,
I did mean you!
Many of Tom Peddle's entries are promises rather than paper, but paper would be nice.
If you meant Tom Ward (and therefore marshalling), then I misunderstood.
i mean't Tom Ward
sadly my new engine is still sitting in the front of the garage waiting for me to herniate myself getting it to the back of the garage so the best we will be able to do is come and watch - erm marshal.
could do with a map ref and a marshals sign on time

Autocross finals are now up on the web site at:
http://chelmsfordmc.co.uk/cmc/Autocross/Autocross07_Finals.pdf
See you all on Sunday!
Cheers Tom - Hope you have now got our entries.
FYI Charlotte & Robert are CMC members
Rich and I are WAC/CMC
Updated finals are now on the website. A few more entries and more details for crews. Numbers have also changed for a few competitors due to entries from those with reserved championship numbers. We have also split class A at 1400cc (rather than 1600cc) to better match the entries received.
Hi Tom,
I noticed in the 2nd finals you have me down as class D - Escort.
I will be in the Nova - as it will be driven 3 times I should go in the specials class E
