Basic rules for Enduro
9 July, 2007 - 18:57
Hi All
Well I thought it time that I join the ranks of Enduro Rallying. I pick up my new car tomorrow and will start work as soon as possible.
I haven't renewed my licence yet so don't have a blue book. Can someone give me a brief run down on what is/isn't allowed on Enduro cars. Mine is coming with a tubular monifold and not sure if it's allowed.
Cheers
Tony

Have a look at the TorqBar Championship rules:
http://www.endurance-rallying.co.uk/downloads/championship/TorqBar_Endur...
Manifolds should be standard.
no tubular manifold (might be able to swap with Jim's 106) gearbox (inc diff ratio) must be standard to the model of car, standard engine:
springs and dampers free (no remote resovoir type) but must be in origional locations, elastic material in suspension joints.
must have hand held ext (min is 1.75l i think), half cage and harnesses, otherwise usual road rally regs with regard to trim etc.
almost all events require colways, though the BB regs don't

Another basic rule is not to bin it off into the trees

At least it went in navigator side first.... Another basic rule..!!
Matt, thats a pain when you travel so far for an event. Scenery looks fabulous, but still not worth parking up for. I hope you were doing well up to that point.
I don't know why, but almost every Rally incident is allways the navigators side ?
Looks like the Rover fortunatly didn't get any damage.
Does the car come with a bunch of bananas as standard or is this an after market?
The Rover with tubular as OEM is fine.
I think most of the key points have been covered. The engine has to be standard from TB/carb to exhaust manifold exit, so no bike TBs and, as you mentioned, after market manifolds. The ECU used to be free, but I've got a feeling I read somewhere that that has to be OEM now as well.
Exhaust is free, but cat has to be retained.
No LSD unless OEM. No bodywork mods (arches, etc).
I think that's about it.
Matt, please explain why you stopped, was the car beached or is there suspension damage?
I'm afraid it doesn't look like it qualifies as binned. Must try harder!
We were beached, and the fact that we were resting on the gear selectors meant that we didn't have drive to try and get out.
When Matt goes off, try to tow him out as quick as possible as that amount of revving can't do a great deal of good for the environment!!
