Escort axle now rebuilt and refitted following the Essex Stages damage. New lower diff ratio, and all drives OK, so Entry gone in today for the Centenary Stages next weekend. Ben co.driving of course, so another family gathering, this time in Twford Wood.
Any other CMC crews coming along !
Thankyou for the words of support. I hope I can keep Caution between the trees, and not get too carried away.
Having only been to the venue briefly once, I was intending to run on knobblies, but in this heat, if its very dry, I assume a tarmac slick may be required !
Very hard day. On the first stage, being two laps and 30 second starts was a major problem with the dust created from the recent surfacing works. Richard / Irene came into the worst effected area, and could not see anything at all, and even at a snails pace hit a tree at fairly slow speed, but enough to damage the cooling fan, causing their early retirement. The stage had to be stopped several times to resolve the problems caused by the dust. The following stages were run as one lap and at 60 second starts, which did give the dust time to settle, but did not help the cars already retired due to the problem.
For us, the first stage pulled the exhaust off, and we blew a leak from the water pump gasket. Fixed in service with the help of Richard (who had now retired)and Rob. Next stage, the clutch cable snapped, and again a replacement was found and put on by Richard and Rob. Eventually retiring when the axle brackets bent, probably in some of the heavy landings and jumps.
Very good venue, although the bumps in places are very tough on the car. Big shame about the dust caused by the resurfacing, but very good fun stages to drive.
I thought it was quite normal to drive that bit quicker if you spot Andy with camera pointing towards you...
Forgot to mention we had some rear wing damage and no nearside rear lights, following an earlier incident, co. drivers side of course. Learnt that from Pat (usedtobequick)
Strong possibility that we may be entering as well
Ed / Ben
Looks like they have over 40 entries at the moment
If the weather stays like this it should be good.

And now Andy Manston has posted pictures on his web site, with the concrete dust settling in the trees, it looks more like its been snowing....
