I've got a 1970 Austin 1800 "S" that was prepared for the 1999 and 2002 Lands End to John o'Groats Reliability Trial run by HERO.

The car is now for sale and I'm a bit stumped as to how much to ask for it.

Description as follows:

Shell - excellent really - new BL sills and a new O/S front wing fitted in 2000. Very little corrosion and nothing structural. Paint is OK but not really good, with the new front wing having faded a bit. Paint is certainly the worst aspect of the car but, for rallying... Colour is Antelope, which is a beige-green.

Engine: rebuilt 1800cc B-series with a Piper fast-road cam, twin 1.75" SUs, K&N filters, tuned cylinder head by Peter Burgess, adjustable cam timing and a few other bits I've forgotten the details of. Should produce about 120BHP when properly set up but will need a rolling road session to get it sorted out, and possibly a remapped distributor.

Running gear: Reconditioned displacers and new pipes (2002), with Spax Mini dampers on the front. Antiroll bar available with car but not fitted. New brake disks (about 2,000 miles on them and reconditioned front calipers.

Interior - Ox-blood red colour. No carpets fitted at present, but rest of standard original interior all present and in very good condition, except rear parcel shelf, which has been sun-damaged. Currently fitted with Smiths rev-counter, oil pressure and voltmeter gauges in crackle-black custom dash layout. Electrics run through 8 fuses rather than original two!

Full set of 5 aluminium alloy Minilite wheels with decent, matched tyres.

MOT'd until end October 2008.

2nd in class on 1999 Le Jog.

Unplaced in 2002 event due to ball-joint failure which necessitated a 300 mile detour for a replacement...

So, what should I be asking for it?

And is anyone interested?

regards
Nick
