Received the Entry Acceptance for Rockingham Stages today, so will be joining Richard / Irene and Charlotte / Dave at Rockingham in a few weeks. Anyone else be joining us.
I did Rockingham last year, great event/surface and venue, On stage one my very experienced welsh co-driver missed the split !! doh,
so knowing we were not going to challenge anyone in our class,
carried on missing the split on every stage, clocking up near on 70 stage miles, great experience and learnt loads
Had a great time at Rockingham was good event when it got going.
Had a few spins on Stage 1 ended up doing some gardening! But after that we got better and better - so many thanks to Dave for coming out with me - was a laugh! We finnished - no navvi mistakes just driver error in places!
Shame Ed & Ben didn't get to do stages 1 & 2 but Ian and Dad managed to get the them going again with new half shaft.
Mum & Dad were flying along 3rd in class when there steering rack snapped (like no one has seen before, couldn't have known)they were flying down a straight, started to brake then turn and didn't turn - straight into fence. If you had seen the car when it came back you would have been right in thinking thats that - a few spectators were saying - a write off - but no Ian 'we can fix it' Barnard and a team of others got stuck in and after 50 mins they were back out again - amazing!
Will try and add a piccie of there car on my gallery
Congratulations to you and dave on realy good show on only your second stage event, also a realy good show from Mathew Ockendon & John taylor 1st Novice,
Sorry to hear about Your mum & dads scare sounds simaler to what happened to colin last yaer at longmoor, Richard & Irean If we can be of any assistance in any way with the car please shout
We are only to willing to help if we can kevin & colin
Yes it was a good day dispite out "little head-on". We must thank all those that helped and there were quite a few. I like the photo's Charlotte - as you can see, the wing now looks as good as new thanks to Mr Earthy and a hammer!! and Ian's welder.
Well done Charlotte & Dave in not to gettting a stage max and finnishing. Roll on the next one.
Forgot to say about all the others - Yes Matt and John did great. Although John vandalised my car!
Pete & Richard 1st in class and 9th overall
Arron & Scott 1st in class and 14th overall
Brett & Sam 1st in class - sorry not sure o/all
Having never been to the venue, I was impressed at the track as well as all the facilities available, beats standing in the middle of knowhere when its below feezing. Eventfull day for all the family.
We pulled off the line on stage 1, big clunk, and we coasted downhill through the tunnel, and that was it, all of about 100 yards and it looked like it was over before we had even started. We established the prop was turning so it had to be something in the axle. Recovered after stage two, jacked it up and the halfshaft in the new axle had snapped at the bearing area. Quick change, although we needed longer studs, so once again Ian Barnard came to the rescue with grinder and welder to sort it all out and we were back going again just in time for stage 3. Became quicker, and hopefully smoother throughout the day as we weree still getting used to driving on Slicks.
First stage we were able to do was stage 3, but it was stopped to clear an accident, which we discoved was Richard / Irene. Charlotte talked to them on the mobile, and they were OK, but thought the car could be a write off, well it looked like it at first. Amazing with the help of so many, it was back running again an hour later, just in time for the next stage, to the amazement of all.
Best bit was probably stage 7, came round for second lap with Charlotte joining in front at the merge for her first lap. Chased her for a few bends but with Richard / Irene now appearing in my mirror we were sandwiched between mother/father and daughter, so took a brave line past Charlotte who must have had us, then mum/dad, both in bigger engined cars filling her mirrors. All good family day out...all finished in some shape or other, and an excellent weekend for all.
Yes that was good fun, a "Lewsey sandwich" It is a shame none of us had incar video, that would have been one for the familly album- I look forward to the next familly outing - hopefully at Longcross & Millbrook.
R U doing the Gymkhana!Ed I was thinking of doing it in the Smart
Ian Barnard will be out in his Metro. I think Rayners will be there too...

Not sure if the Smart being automatic is a good idea Irene.
I won't be doing the Gymkhana this time, although Ben might in the Nova.
Well done to those who finished and commiserations to those who didn't. Irene, I hope you guys are OK after your 'little head-on'.

Hi Wendy
Yes we are ok - a little shaken, few aches and pains - but that goes with age I think.
We were just thankful the fence and concrete moved - had that been a wall no doubt it would have been worse.
