The 2008 EACS Endurance regs are now out - a day/night road rally for cars built to the Endurance Road Rally formula.
This years event stays in Norfolk and is again supporting the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
This year we will be combining with the East Anglian Classic Rally for the Saturday tests, so you will see two events over most of the tests, so we hope to be able to provide you with plenty of action from the newly combined formula.
The rally will again be based around RAF Sculthorpe, with afternoon selectifs forming the bulk of the day leg. The night leg will include a road rally type format using a selection of both public tracks and lanes.
The Rally HQ will be at the Holiday Inn at Norfolk for the start, overnight halt and finish.
As always, to keep the standard as high as previous years, we will rely on an army of marshals of all experiences to help with the Saturday afternoon Selective Tests, the night route and Sunday morning tests.
If you can offer to help, get on the list early to guarantee your place, talk to Ed or Ben Scott at any clubnight, or simply email us your details at EACSChiefMarshal@chelmsfordmc.co.uk where they will be much appreciated. Make sure you include your email and home address details, as all offers to help will be acknowledged, and indicate how many likely to be with you, and if you are available Sat afternoon and/or the Sat night and/or Sunday Morning.
Look forward to hearing from you, and seeing you all on the 19th / 20th April 2008.

Endurance Rally 19th / 20th April

With only 6 weeks to go before one of our biggest events of the year, we still need plenty of marshals for the Saturday tests. The route is shaping up to improve on last year, and although we have a shorter night route, we have 3 test venues incorporated into the night route, and still have all cars at the finish by around 1.30am Sunday morning for the end of the first days competition, so no need to be up all night this year.
If anyone is intending to marshal, but hasn’t already let us know, we would appreciate hearing from you, or post onto the forum.
Many Thanks, Ed & Ben Scott, Chief Marshals

Dagenham to Sculthorpe HELP

Young Chris from Gateway College who was helping me timekeeping at Woodbridge would like to marshal on The Endurance / Classic this weekend - preferably on Saturday at Sculthorpe.
He doesnt't drive and lives in Dagenham.
Anyone able to help him out . . . and the event - WE STILL NEED PLENTY MORE AT SCULTHORPE

Go on go on go on! Go On! You know you want to.

Come on folks. I am the original 'Gotcha Oscar' Dad.

My son is a proper marshal, all orange overalls etc and he got me to volunteer. So I offered to do day and night marshaling with only Woodbridge JJJ as experience. Ed and Ben were happy to accept my offer, then I found out my boy is only doing the night!

Never mind eh? But the folks still need marshals so don't delay, volunteer today. These events only happen 'cos frozen and baked individuals stand by giving crews a cheery wave and a thumbs up whilst minding the cones. It doesn't hurt, honest, and its nice when crews say thank you!

Some body must be traveling from Dagenham, so strap a marshal on the roof and bring him with you!

NAVIGATOR NEEDED!PLS HELP

Sorry to hop on the end of this thread but my navigator has come down with the flu this week and is not sure he will be up to sitting next to me at the weekend on the enduro.
Will be using the enduro spec 1.3 proton (all the correct running gear and safety equiptment including plumbed in extinguisher and cut out switch)
I have had limited experience of enduros only having done two, finished 8th o/a and 1st in class on last years bullnose and 15th o/a on this years Great Busted, although i consider my self a reasonable driver having competed in numerous stage rallys gymkhanas road rallys etc
The entry is paid for, as is the accomodation at rally hq, a contribution would be appreciated for half the cost of the digs if possible.

If you could ask around it would much appreciated.

Many thanks
fingers crossed.

Great event!

Many many thanks to Gavin, Jacqui, Paul, Paul, the marshals and the rest of the team who gave us such an oustanding East Anglian Classic yesterday. Lizzie and I had a really great time, enhanced by our best-ever result! Forza Lancia!!

Photos on Flickr - EACS

Hi Folks,

I've been snapping away again. My snaps are now on www.flickr.com
Look for EACS Classic and Endurance.

I didn't get a shot of every car and some shots weren't good enough to keep but if you look through then your car might be there.

As always they are not professional quality nor very special. They just capture the moment. I hope you enjoy them.

Matthew - section E (M3) during the day and PCB at night.

PS. Ed & Ben & CMC thanks for a brilliant day.

Well Done Nick & Lizzie

What a super result - look out for your seeding next year - might only have to put one number on each door?
The immpression I got as a "blind" course car driver was that this event had it all( in spade loads)!
Dolly blew her clutch as course car on Sculthorpe 2nd run - I dread to think how p***** we would have been if we had been competing!
Dolly has mentioned to me that her Italian rival is showing a nice clean pair of well fettled heels-and as a result has demanded some retail therapy / and a bit of pampering to get over it.
See you on the Hughes?

Pete Paul & Dolly

Hughes

Dunno about 'clean' - still haven't been able to remove all the mud from Woodbridge! Regretably, it seems we won't be out on the Hughes - Lizzie has received a better invitation. So, unless someone else fancies a ride in my Bambino, Dolly will have to manage without her Italian playmate.

marshals thanks

as one of the numerous bodies freezing our little tooties off on Saturday i'd like to thank the competitors for being such a cheerful bunch - it's not just the thanks, it's the whole cheerfulness that emits from the cars all down the field.

oh and the chocolate that appeared from one certain astra - very nice touch

Endurance Marshal Thanks

With the help of the random number selection technology (http://www.mdani.demon.co.uk/para/random.htm) we have drawn 6 names for the marshals cash prize draw. They are as follows, 1st was Mark Barham £50, then Dave Pollard £10, Howard Joynt £10, Gary Maddocks £10, Geoff Dixon £10, Ken White £10.
I will be contacting the lucky winners over the next few days and forwarding the cash.
Thanks again all those that helped this year,

We had a good day

We had a good day marshalling at Massingham, and were kept entertained by the drivers. The night section was fun too. Seemed fairly slick. Well done.

Can people stop emailing me to tell me I won the £50 marshals prize, I didn't Sad

endurance thanks

so glad we decided to have a go at the EACS endurance .think we had the lowest ride height of the entry and ploughed most of the whites with our exhaust.still managed to bend an alloy on that bloody kerb despite slowing right down for it .paul and his team put together a very enjoyable driving challenge with easy to follow instructions and timing ,i would imagine it will be a full entry next year if word gets round which is what the event deserves .many thanks to all the marshals ,we'll certainly be back for more .

EACS Endurance

Having competed on 3 Lombards, 3 SW's & 1 Welsh we were a bit apprehensive about entering this event for the first time - "only" 25 miles of selectifs & on airfields suggesting tarmac/concrete whereas we prefer loose surfaces & the accomodation was expensive but enter we did - thankfully

What a fantastic enjoyable event it was, we enjoyed EVERY selectif - using the "natural obstacles" & tracks on the airfields was cleverly done, they flowed well & the 25 miles seemed longer - we were well satisfied with the content.
We had a couple of wrong slots on the night section which cost us but overall the night section was not too hard for us night rookies & was enough to take penalties of the leaders.

The organisation/marshalling/ results/ everything was spot on.

Many thanks to all concerned on an event that we will long remember

Congratulations to all the award winners & commiserations to those that retired especially our mates Russ & Ali who went out with driveshaft failure on S3 & Steve & Dave who lying 1st in class blew their engine 500 yds from the end - we were gutted for you.

If I had to make a suggestion to better the event - start sunday a bit earlier & do the 4 selectifs again which would mean a bit later finish but not by much & would have made the sunday leg more worthwhile

Hope to see you again next year
