Well, sadly it has to go. The insurance renewal has come through for our cars and it is a crippling £1100 for our Galaxy, a Rover diesel and my beloved Saab. SWMBO has quite rightly pointed out that we don't actually need three cars (and she still thinks my mate "owns" the rally car which makes four!!).

So...

For sale: Saab 9000 Griffin

  • 3.0l V6 24valve 210 bhp
  • Four speed automatic with traction control system
  • 1994 - Mreg
  • 187,200 miles
  • MoT to March 2009 and tax to August 2008 (and hopefully old enough to avoid greedy Gordon back dating the tax liability!!)
  • Service history (main dealer and independent) including cam belt change at 156,000 (next change due at 216,000)
  • Oil and filter change when I got the car in February this year
  • All the tyres are in good condition with plenty of tread - the two front tyres were replaced for the MoT in March
  • The bodywork has two rust areas: passenger side front wing in front of the wheel and inside the boot lip on the driver's side
  • Inside is cream leather, looking a little tired now with a couple of small tears
  • Electric windows, electric sunroof, electric mirrors, electric seats, and central locking - all working; heated seats - driver's seat doesn't work
  • Automatic climate control - aircon doesn't work, but the remainder of the system works fine
  • Trip computer, info centre, "Pictogram" (bulb/door alert system) and cruise control, headlamp wash/wipe, front fogs - all working
  • Tow bar
Fundamentally, a sound car in the true Grand-tourer tradition, capable of doing more than twice the UK legal limit, quick enough to be rarely held up on a cross country run. And all at 27mpg. On the other hand if you don't have lead size 10's like me, you can get nearly 40mpg - I only know this because I sat at 55mph on the cruse control towing the rally car home one day - I got 38.8 mpg for 100 miles of motorway driving, towing!!

I would like £750 but these day I know I will have to take an offer. You're welcome to come and have a look and a test drive - the car's in Wareham, about 10 miles west of Poole. You can email me at cochapman at hotmail dot com

I don't actually know who will be more upset when it goes, me or the children, they absolutely love it!
