CMC had a strong presence at the very well run Targa in the Dark based out of Wincanton Racecourse last Saturday night.
First of all our Comp Sec Tony Michael produced the results in his usual efficient manner with organisers Bath MC hiring the Chelmsford MC Liege Timers.
Chairman Matt Endean drove the course opening car and Membership Sec Dave Thompson did radio marshalling on the tests with Amy Conboy.
As a BTRDA Gold Star qualifying round the event attracted a top class entry with 4 of the top 5 finishers from Wales , with Gaz Price in the orange BMW a popular winner 32 secs in front of John Davies in his rapid Puma.
Splitting the Welsh crews up in 3rd place was our very own Gary White Fiesta ST ( with Paul Nelson) a further 26 sec back.
Keith Lane was the 3rd non Welsh driver home in 7th overall in the Ka with Martin Lane on the maps. Adrian & Ellen White were 11th , David Lobb/Jim Bowie 23rd & CMC Navigator Simon Fuidge with David Ginn ( In an ex CMC David Taylor Proton) 26th.
Rich Baker & Ben Curran were 2nd out of 12 finishers in the Clubman Class - a result which would have placed them 26th in the main event, & relative newcomers Mike & Rory Lacey were 11th. Ex CMC member Pavel Tsapenko retired his MG with a broken driveshaft on the 2nd run of Silton Solar Farm.
