East Anglian Classic Entries Open

We are pleased to open entries for the 2013 running of the East Anglian Classic Historic Rally on Saturday 22nd June 2013.
As last year, alongside the main event there will be the East Anglian Classic Run, for CMC members only, and open to any pre 1981 car, without the need for Competition Licences or HVIF forms.
Get your entries in soon, and if you can't compete, get in touch with our chief marshal Tony Burchnall and offer your services.

East Anglian Classic Marshalling.

Saturday, June 22nd is this year's East Anglian Classic.

Paul has brought the event further south this time so that much more of it is in Suffolk than previously.

As usual though, the demand for marshalling crews is very high. There are over two dozen time controls as well as two airfield venues with multiple tests. So,regardless of your experience, there will be something to suit you. We need several crews familiar with the use of the 'yellow' watches, as used on 12-cars and the Preston, for example.
Those who have marshalled on the EAC road sections previously will know that you need to be able to work accurately and without the back-up of having someone else nearby. It's not that daunting but we could do with some newcomers who would like to learn the ropes by working with an established crew.
By coming out on the Classic you will be working in daylight, which is easier, and it would set you up for running a clock on say, the Xpart or the Preston. It will also be warmer!

If you can be available we would be very pleased to see you and can offer something to suit you. The Classic is part of the HRCR Championship so you will see the best crews in the country and be part of one of the best events too.
If you would like more information post here, email me or use the registration link on the home page.

Tony.

EAC June 22nd

We are getting several generous offers to marshal on the East Anglian Classic but would be pleased to hear from anyone planning on coming out to help.
If you are familiar with the Liege ( yellow ) clocks and the chip system we would be particularly pleased if you could come and do some timing. The regularity sections require a lot of timekeepers and so do the tests with multiple runs.
The tests are run on two sites in North Suffolk and we could easily use another dozen observers also..
If you can come and help and are able to book the date, please let me know soon as it helps enormously with planning.

Remember, Road Rally Marshalling with CMC usually involves some sort of misery- cold, wet, dark. Not this one with a guaranteed longest length of daylight and the only thermals will be those rising from the fields and ridden by swallows and skylarks in the heat of the sun. ( other brands of weather are available )

Thanks to those who have offered already and thanks in advance if you intend to.

Marshalling on the EAC

Just to add to Tony's post, in addition to the usual plethora of Escorts, Minis, MGs and Triumphs, we are expecting a couple of entries from the pre-war fraternity, as featured in The Flying Scotsman article in the last club magazine. Should be quite a sight to see these magnificent old beasts on the lanes and airfields of East Anglia. Come on out and be a part of one of the friendliest and most interesting rallies on the calendar!!

Last week of entries

Just a reminder that entries for the 2013 East Anglian Classic close next Saturday 8th June. Spaces are still available, and we are also still in need of a few more marshals.
The route is a cracker and there are some excellent test venues to provide a challenge for crews and entertainment for the marshals.
Don't miss out - sign up today!

EAC Test Marshals needed

We are still in need of six test marshals for morning and afternoon tests on the EAC. Please come forward and help, particularly if you can look after a stop watch.
You can register on the EAC page or post here. Thanks in anticipation,
Tony.

Calling all EAC Navvies

As I was doing the courtesy run today, I was presented by the receptionist at The Old Ram with a Poti that someone had left behind in the bar. If it's yours and you can describe the distinctive box it is in I'll see how we can get it back to you.
