Targa/Autotest/Autosolo Regs

I'm trying to figure out what I can and can't do to my car if i want to run it in the above events.

18.1.2 of the Blue book state that "Paintwork must be of one colour OR original colour scheme. No primer is to be visible." Does this mean I can use multiple colours from the original manufacturer or is it saying the full paint work needs to match how a version of the car would have looked at factory?

18.1.4 "All major trim as fitted to the body type by its original manufacturer when offering it for sale must be retained. This trim will include headlinings, inside door panels, carpets and rear seats." Means I need carpet inside the vehicle. 18.1.6 "The trim, including the rear seat may be cut to allow the fitting of a safety cage." This doesn't suggest HOW much I can cut. I would like to use large car mats to completley cover the floor pan areas but still maintain access to the chassis for mounting and maintenence as I've already done some rust repair and more is inevitable. So the vehicle would have carpet. But it would not be produced by the manufactuerer but still of similair material.

18.6.6 says "For Road rallies, navigational rallies and Targa road rallies held between 07.00 and 22.00 18.1.2, 18.5, 18.5.1 and 18.5.9 do not apply. ...etc..."

Do events even happen outside of these times?

If anyone more experienced has any insight it would be greatly appreciated.

targa scrutineering

Hi, Kieran. And welcome.

Rules are different for Autosolos/Autotests and Targas. It can all get a bit complex but the basics of what makes a car targa compliant are explained in this youtube video: https://youtu.be/IVTRXTC3zEI

If you are on Facebook, joining the group 'Targa Rally UK' might be useful. Click on the 'Featured' tab, there's a Q&As pinned post.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply, I

Thanks for the reply, I checked the page and it settles my worries about paint but still need to dig deeper on carpet. Fairly certain I've already binned it as its almost 20 years old. Will buy Oem carpet floor mats and carpet roll to cover areas where it is reasonable.
