Sadly Bill Preston passed away aged 88 on Christmas day.
Bill was one of the very early (possibly founding members) of Chelmsford Motor Club back in the mid 1950s, and has been club President since the 1970's.
Bill competed in most forms of motorsport, with his main interests in rallying and steam engines.
He is of course most well known as the event sponsor of the 'one and only' Preston Rally, which he and the family have sponsored non-stop for 47 editions of the event.
Bill attended as many Preston's as he could even as recently as 2024 and the family has become an integral part of Chelmsford Motor Club over the years.
