Our Targa Rallies

Our Targa Rallies are basically cheap single-venue events that involve driving tests similar to Historic and Endurance road rallies. Although the tests are shorter and have more cones than you will find on an endurance rally (to meet the lower 30mph average).

As Targa Rallies are something newly created in the Motorsport UK rules for 2013, it will be interesting to see what other clubs come up with. Multi-venue events with no competition on the public roads are now possible, which could see a revival of some of the multi-venue stage rallies that died out 20 years ago as new Targa road rallies. Bring back the Essex Charity Stages!

And also the Autosolos

There is also the Anglian Autosolo Challenge which is a series of six events running from March to October. At each meeting you will do the same half dozen tests three times over which will give you a chance to measure your improvement during the day.
CMC are an invited club and you will be in some very quick and friendly company, all for about £30 and little risk to the car.
The first round is at Waterbeach on Mar 17th.

Hi All

Hi All

I have an old Boxster, would this be suitable for a Targa event, or would I need something with more, err robust suspension?

Cheers

Ideal

Your Boxter would be an ideal car for both Targas and Solos. Both use smooth tarmac and the power and handling would serve you well without any changes to the car. Some of the cars to beat are the Honda S2000, MX5's and BMW 318 and you would be right in amongst them. We already have a Boxter doing Solos and the only thing I would recommend is that you find some wheels and tyres that would save your road set. Flamboyance ( which is very tempting !! ) will see off a decent road tyre in no time so a spare set will save a lot.
Tyres need to be road legal at scrutineering. If they get a bit slick after that it doesn't matter as long as you change them before you go home. An understanding local tyre fitter may beable to help you find something suitable.
