1st Stage Rally - Brean

Wow what a weekend!

My first Stage Rally began on the road at 9am Friday travelling to Weston Super Mare.

Lunchtime and we were in the Pub just outside Bristol - 11 of us - we met up with the Rayner crew! Had a laugh and a beer over lunch and it seemed this would be how the weekend was going...

Arrived at Brean Leisure Park for scruiterneering - no probs there. Got our various caravan keys and agreed a time to meet in the bar!

The team - my self and Robert, Mum and Dad, Adele and Richard Candy, Allan and Liz Smith, Ian and Helen Barnard, Pete, Aaron and Scott Rayner, Richard Bonner, Jim, Dan Cornwall, Ed Britton and Caroline - and couple of kiddies.

A few beers later and we are all a little jolly! On comes a comedian (who we had spotted earlier in the bar) couldn't say he was a little man! He was either very funny or we had more beer than we thought - Dad and Rich B got right into it - waving and clapping along - tears rolling down faces! So very good night was had by all.

In the paddock next day - some a little delicate. I have to say I can't describe how I was feeling but sat on the start line and said to Adele next to me - I am so nervous I could cry!

Stage one was going ok until I missed the Split - stage max!

Rest were better - didn't make the same mistake. Pulled up from last to second from last at the end of the day.

Back to caravan for a snooze before hitting the bar! All crews were given a meal and cabarat was laid on - comedy duo - good but not as good as the big man. DISCO and off goes mum dancing away - pulling people up to dance. Ian did a fantastic job of the twist, hand jive - you name it - didn't know he had it in him!

Day two - went well - each stage I was better, quicker more confident. Didn't really get to grips with the hairpins but what the hell - gave Adele a fit of the giggles - until I went straight into some hay bales - now I know what the excessive bumper is for - it didn't do any damage apart from a few cracks!

After the last stage I was shaking from the adrenalin and working so hard - WHAT A BUZZ

Lots of crews went out (30 odd) including Pete and Richard, unfortunatley - due to bell housing gaining a hole! We finished the event 3rd from last - BUT AT LEAST WE FINNISHED!

I can only get better and can't wait for Rockingham in a few weeks time with Dave Earthy coming out for some laughs and maybe a better position than 3rd from last - got to start somewhere though!
