Thanks John and Dave and all the marshals for last night - really enjoyed it and so good to see such close results at the end. Also thanks to Luis of course! Will miss not having one next month but thoroughly looking forward to January!
Hi John and Dave. Many thanks to you and the Marshals for another great night of motorsport. Very good route and great roads. Shame about the navigator. Cheers, Graham R
It was good to get back on the 12 car trail, well done John and the other officials for making it possible. Some very good performances congratulations to everyone. Really enjoyed it and I wasn't in the slightest sick.
I am always sad enough to debrief myself after these, and I think I have worked out what I did wrong, costing us a board and a few minutes on the first section. Just by way of learning, not a criticism or being smart-ass I assure you, could John or others confim from the attached pdf that the top (pink) route was correct and why my (purple) route beneath it was wrong? Leaving aside the closed yellow which threw me into panic and a huge detour.
BTW, in case non-combatants want to play, the section ran from right to left on the map, the blue oval is TC2 and the nav was:
Via in order: Over, Green Dot, 8, Green Dot, LWR, Over, P, 27, Over, 38, Green Dot, Hill, 3 Green Dots, Phone Box, LWR, 33, Over, Over.
Thanks,
Colin.

Hi Colin, Thanks for your comments, Looking at the routes, The 2nd one is nearly right apart from gs 0032 you should have taken the first road. There was a CB at 004331(ish) Wondered if you had an older map, as on the current one the grid line 33 is right between the two roads, and there is another phone box which would have been on the nav.I will forward you the full route via pm
I believe the purple (intended) route should take the north west road before entering Boxted Cross hence not going past that phone box. My suggestion would be that pink is shortest route via those instructions whilst purple is longer and if there are 2 or more possibilites it is always shortest route. The mileage which goes with the clue should confirm this?
I think that is the reason?
Thanks John and Dave for a most enjoyable route. Was feeling very tired both physically and emotionally after a tough week but the choice of lanes make up for it.
Thanks, of course, to all the marshals that came out and Paul and Pete, they seem to be everywhere lately!
Excellent navigation from Lucy once again, she's a star.:-) And the Mini too, after the battering received at the Woodbridge targa and having very little, or none, time to look after her, she keeps going well.
Luis
P.S. The car didn't start this morning and couldn't drive to Brian's, meeting point for Preston's final recce day... most annoying!
P.S.2. Lucy, you seem good enough as to take on Expert clues, just saying...
Colin
I was a bit puzzled by this when checking the nav as on electronic versions the blue gridline letters 33 are in a different place to the printed versions. Even without that though the shortest route is as John and Lucy have described.
Paul
... everyone.
The electronic version is indeed an old edition, and so the 33 grid line label is in a different place and would put you on the second road. Thus it threw me when trying to reconstruct it on the computer. Strangely though, on the night I had the latest edition and so we did do the correct route. The only remaining mystery is how we missed the TH codeboard. Am I OK to say missed codeboards on the correct route are driver error?????
PS - Keep that comment away from Ellen; we have an appointment at the Registry Office next week and I don't want her not turning up :)

It's a team thing Colin! Driver's eyes but up to the Nav to know when you are on a loop or choice of road and thus likely to have a CB and pass that info on to the driver.
All the bets for next week!
