Hi!
Heard about the club through a friend who speak highly of the events created by the club! I decided to join in on the fun! I have previous experience racing my lightly prepared track car (still a bit of a novice really) but wanted to get involved in something more "grassroots". I also run a automotive filming company on the side which might be of some interest for the club and event if you wanted me to film at all? (link below)

My main interestes are Targa Rallies and Road Rallies. I also hope to come down to the next club meet and ask for advice on how to get started! My main question is for Targa Rallies, is there any limitations on engine size?
My current cars are:
2006 Ford Fiesta MR200 2.0
1992 Mazda MX5 / Eunos 1.6
Welcome, i am John and will try and give you advise and help where needed.
the best thing is to come along to the club night and speak to myself and a few other members to get an idea of which direction you want to go.
looking at your car selection, you are well placed to compete in most of ours and others events
if you need more detailed info drop me a line
i will be aimimg to run a navigation evening during Jan, which you are free to attend. Maybe try and get involved in next months 12 car to get an idea how things work.

For Targa Rallies and Road Rallies you are restricted to 4 cylinders, which does effectvely limit engine size.
An MX5 is an ideal Targa car - they are very popular.
Thank you guys. John i will certainly drop you an email.
I will head down to the next meet, i look forward to it! Looks like i might build up the mx5 to compete!
Welcome Tappet Magic,
I joined a couple of years ago and have had a great time, wondered why I never did it earlier, great people running or getting involved with some great events!
Justin
Hi Tappet?
Welcome to CMC. I joined the club a few years ago to do road rally's, having previously competed in circuit racing, sprints and autocross. The club runs a series of 12 car rally's and the legendary Prestion. The big thing at the moment is Targa's. They are a bit of an oxymoron, because they are road rally's confined to an airfield. Road rally cars are near standard and must be road legal. For technical regulations go to https://www.motorsportuk.org/Competitors/Guidance-Advice/Road-Rallying
As mentioned by John, you should try to learn to navigate. I joined the club expecting to drive all events, but struggled to find navigators. Targa's are a good place to start because you are only following diagrams (not an Ordnance Survey map). And the best way to do Targa's is to double drive, taking turns to navigate.
If you want to double drive Targa's with a semi-expert driver / novice navigator, email

How did my e-mail address get on John's post?

If you have any speific requests let me know ie Targa, night rallies etc
John
I certainly would be interested!
Myself and one other would like to attend please interested in Targa and 12 car/road rallying will be coming from southend area where are you thinking of meeting John. Thanks.
Hi John,
I will also be coming from Southend.
I would also like to add that i may have 1 other person coming with me for Tuesday. We are both coming from billericay.
John - If you think it might be suitable for a couple of my rally club students to turn up can you keep me updated? (Obviously I'll tell them they would need to go with a responsible adult) - not likely any would on a school night but would be nice to make them aware of an opportunity if there is one! Only thing is they do know some of the basics (tabletop wise) already for 12 cars.
I might be able to come and help out if it isn't too far from Chelmsford depending on workload and if you want me!
Thanks Lucy, Thanks for your offer, I am looking at doing something next Tues 19th at The General Arms Lt Babbow (club Venue )
Any one interested turn up from 8.00. I will bring 12 car and Targa stuff.
Anyone able to help you will be more than welcome
Put me down for 3 for Nav Night - will definitely be interesting
Regards Paul
