Jan Jaunt 12-Car 21 January 2022

The regs have been posted a little earlier than usual to remind drivers and navigators that a competiton licence will be required to compete in events in 2022. The RS Clubman licence is free, and the regs give the link for ordering online.

The Jan Jaunt starts and finishes in Mountnessing again, and we will be using some roads for the first time, plus a metalled public road not shown on the map. Not very often the OS gets it wrong!

As usual for the Jan Jaunt we need marshals who don't mind getting a bit cold! Not quite Preston stuff, only 12 cars plus a couple of course cars, easy. If you can help please email the Chief Marshal with your mobile number so we can contact you during the event if necessary, and also send you your control location and timing, plus any more info you would need.

Have a good Christmas everyone, stay safe and well, and may 2022 be a good year for CMC and motorsport too!

Jan Jaunt 12 Car - Marshals + Nav Needed

Hi Andy & Chris - I believe you have me down to marshal, which I can indeed do.

If however, you are inundated I will nav For Mike Helm - who has entered sans nav, as he knows my priority is to marshal.

Assuming I do marshal can someone stepin to navigate Mike. He is happy to take a beginner or novice to introduce them to 12 cars.

Jan Jaunt 12-Car Friday 21st January: Marshals needed

Hi Everyone,

I know it's January and usually the coldest 12-car of the year for marshalling, but we need you, please! All controls will be north of the A12, east of the M11, west of Chelmsford, and south of the A414. If I give any more info the competitors will guess the route! If you could spare the time, your help will be very much appreciated, and there will be chocolate bars for all marshals! We would ask all marshals at controls to wear masks please, for your own safety. These will be provided by the course car, if necessary. The contact details for the chief marshal are given in the event regs. Phone or txt me with your name, contact number, and code JJ, and I willl respond as soon as possible. Many thanks.  Andy

Jan Jaunt 12-Car tonight

The entry list is as per the published Seeded Entry List, and car 1 will leave at 1940hrs. We have a full complement of marshals - thank you all who have volunteered. Please arrive at the start with plenty of time for scrutineering and signing on. The location of scrutineering and the Start/TC1 is in the car park to the rear of the village hall opposite the pub. (Do not use the pub car park.) Beginners receive the navigation before their start time - please be in time to receive these 60 minutes before! Final Regs will be issued at signing on.

Thank you

Thank you to the wonderful Andy & Chris, and to all the lovely marshals for enabling the January Jaunt 12 car to run....Luis and I really enjoyed it, especially having long stretches of road without quiet areas gave a smoother run (and some opportunity to catch up on plotting time!).

It was great to see some newer folk having a go too. The next 12 car is an unusual one - Nick had the great idea of having a beginner specific 12 car as part of the year....it will be a more informal environment, with tuition and support, and a break between two parts so it isn't all done in one go. If you're fairly new to all this, please do consider coming along....and if not, if you know someone who is new/would be interested in trying it, please encourage them  :)   http://www.ecmc.co.uk/site/index.php/news-articles/150-12carfeb21

Thank you

Colin and In echo your thanks Lucy.  From a drivers' point of view, I really enjoyed it.  The old Triumph took it well, although we could have done with a bit more power on some of the hilly sections!  Both of us were out for the first time time nearly 3 years and in an unfamiliar car, so we were pleased to not come last!  We did struggle to plot a couple of sections but had a good go at it.

Lucy, we always publicise the CMC etc. 12 cars on the Club Triumph website, as there are a few CT die hards wo also belog to CMC.  Feb will be no exception, however, if you would like to make Club Triumph and "invited club" on this occasion, I can see if we have any newibie or beginners who may wish to come along if you think that yo may have the space?  Where will it be located?

Cheers Mikey

Cheers

Andy, Chris,   many thanks to you both, the officials and Marshals for a great start to 2022 12 Cars.  Great roads and interesting navigation.  After all the twists and turns on the last section Jim doesn't need to go to the Gyn for a week.

Congratulationds to Luis and Lucy for a great result.  1 minute and no fails, fantastic.  Great to see some Beginner Crews.  Hopefully, they will engourage others to give it a try.

Hope to see you all on the next one.

Graham

Jan Jaunt, Friday

I think most enjoyed the 12-Car, though perhaps some were a bit rusty after nearly 2 years without regular motorsport, including Friday's organisers! Clearly no rust in the minds of our winners, well done Lucy and Luis - 0 fails and only 1 min dropped, great results. Next year timing may be a bit tighter! Thanks to all the marshals, not a warm night for sure, and thanks also to the board boys, the course closers, and others who helped with advice and suggestions. The results are elsewhere here for your perusal. Many thanks to all the competitors, come back next year! If you are a beginner come back as a novice! The next 12-Car will be a bit different, but it sounds as though it will be very worthwhile attending with a lot of help and advice available - should be good.

Thanks Paul

Thanks Paul

Do you think that you would be able to accomodate any Club Triumph hopefuls (if we can find any?  :-)   )

12 car training event

We can only permit 12 crews to do the training and the run as its being run under a 12 car permit so get your entries in quick. We can accommodate extra navigators who wish to just do the training and stay on at the venue for extra coaching and advice. Please drop us a note either way,

. Nick & Julie.

Feb Fling - Fantastic!

Brilliant to see so many beginners out for the February Fling Beginners 12 car event last night. Run by Nick Skuse and Tony Burchnall (under ECMC) as part of the Winter Series, we had lots of crews out learning what this part of the sport is all about and successfully getting round routes they had plotted. Nick's idea for the format was genius and the significant support from many regulars enabled it to work really well (and more would have been there if not for other commitments). The provision of drinks and nibbles halfway through was very welcome (thank you Julie & Ann!).

No results as such due to the nature of the evening but we did check how many codeboards were found...the following crews found all codeboards: Stuart Stuart, Stephen & Zoe, Tim & Brynn, Aaron & Jennifer. Michelle & Steve only missed 1, and Nigel & Robin and Ken & Alan missed just 2. Adam & Ian missed only 3 and Tracey & Paul missed 5 whilst David & Simon missed 6 (but 4 of those were at the start of the first loop!). Everyone managed to get to the finish points though!

Huge well done to all beginners for having a go and persevering with the various challenges 12 cars bring. We hope that you might be enticed back for future events - remember beginners get a full hour to plot a route before their start time and you can still ask for help.

Huge thank you to Nick and also to Tony and everyone else who helped make such a successful evening.

Lets be clear here - the star

Lets be clear here - the star was Lucy and her enthusiasm You would be amaised at the support there is out there for officials/suppliers etc. for starter/taster events. Lets keep the momentum up for Motor Sport Month later in the year. Thankyou every one.....
