I'm looking for a navigator for this. Will be competing in my Metro Gti Endurance Road Rally car. Has all the right bits. Happy to have a beginner in the car as long as you can read a map. I've navigated as a novice on Nat B events so can be at hand should the clues be a problem.
Email me on-
Rich and others, the clues will not be a problem for Beginners, if this is anyones first ever event, then contact Eddie or myself and we will arrange some table based training.
Just a heads up for 12 car beginners and newbies; Sofia and me only started doing these things a year ago, we're not good at all (that'll only come from experience) but some of the links on this website is of great help to understand some of the clues giving by devious organisers...
We're very lucky to have a great website full of info (thanks for that Tony!) but maybe the info on navigation is quite a but hidden. On the left hand side menu, under 'Help' there are two or three guides on navigation that we found very useful when we started...
Read them, ask for clues from previous events and practise your plotting at home, attend club nights and ask experienced navigator anything you're not sure about... CMC people are a very welcoming, friendly and helpful bunch!! Timing how long it takes you to plot the route gives you an idea on the time you need to do it. Of course it's not the same plotting in the comfort of your living room than in the car but every little helps.
See you at the next one!

I'm sure there will be lots of examples to be had on Thursday evening - do try to get there if its at all possible, and you'll find navigation is not such a dark art after all.
Paul

can I use a different car to the one entered this evening?
No problem, just make sure you change the details at signing on.
Attached are the results, also being sent out by e-mail. Results analysis to follow. Hope you all enjoyed it, thanks for keeping cars on the road and finishing safely, hope you all got home safely. Many congratulations to award winners Keith and Julie, Kevin and Ian and Mike and Mark.
Most all, I would like to re-iterate my appreciation to the marshals who braved icy wind to make this event run.
Derek Stone 12 Car Results
Thanks to Brian and his team for organising another good night out, the BIGGEST thanks as ever go to the marshals... is this the neverending winter?
It was a great route for the drivers, at least I felt so, and we were doing well until we realised we were very close to OTL when we got to Paul's TC (TC8 i think). We decided to cut the route making it to the other TCs but missing some of the boards. I'm sure John will be able to ellaborate a bit better...
Looking at the results I see we picked a fail at TC9 but looking at the common regulations the only one that makes sense would be making up too much time (?) because being OTL at a time control is 3 fails, right? I am sure Brian will explain in the detailed results.
Well done to Keith and Julie for a faultless win... even after destroying a rim!! how on earth do you do it?????? Well done to the other winners as well.
See you in April!
luis (red Mini)
To the team for making our fun possible, and especially marshals out on a night like that.
My brain was off the pace for some reason and I made some simple errors. Well I found them easy anyway. But the best was saved for the trip home, when the huge dent to a rim caused by a pothole finally gave up holding air on the A12 just before Ipswich. I was very grateful for the opportunity to practice wheel-changing in the biting wind and snow.
April next then, must try harder...
I have forwarded to you by e-mail by thoughts and observations which (hopefully) will help explain where you amy have gone wrong. I have also added some general observations about road rallying, preparation and plotting from the navigators perspective. With 34 years practical experience of road rallying from the midlands to the west country it may be useful, if not please feel free to ignore. Best regards
Results Commentary
Evening Brian
One comment in return if that is OK.
I found the font that you used for the clues when you are doing the YYY yyy very difficult to read when all were the same case.
I gave up and guessed in the end. Wrongly. Luckily we still found the first codeboard, but missed the second that was almost universally missed. I think other cars made the same mistake.
Checking back at home I can see the clue was in the Rettendon quiet zone, and hindsight shows we passed through every quiet zone supplied, there being no dummy ones. I had expected dummy ones.
Same reason we missed the board north of Cock Clarkes.
Cheers
Colin
