Entries will be opening shortly, once all the paperwork is in place.

p.s. I'm looking for a few experts to try out my clues on, anyone fancy upgrading???
This sounds like sour grapes to me after your expert clasifcation in last months 12 car :)
This sounds like sour grapes to me after your expert clasifcation in last months 12 car :)
Looks like I have my first volunteer... :-)
I have prepared a set of expert clues labelled as novice ones especially for you.
Perhaps he gave up on the fourth section which consisted of three clues with no approach or depart directions and no end time control location .The only way of guessing the correct route was by mileage as the last clue (sh 65) was a bit vague in that another one (sh 65) existed within two miles on the map on a parrallel road .The other expert crew managed it so it was possible but i myself don't find this sort of navigation entertaining.( i'm trying to master plotting on the move without inducing motion sickness).
Hopefully the next 12 car will give start and finish controls for all classes .you can make the navigation as time consumming as you like but at least give us something to head towards.

It does now!
I didn't put them in initially, and now the expert navigation is actually quite easy. Time consuming yes, but still easy.

Thanks Colin I will look forward to them. Does the route include any sea routes!!! or a quick spin round the car ferry before it sets off to Holland. :)
You'll be fine as long as Mike has put the rubber bungs back in the floor.

just to remind all entrants for tonights rally that the start venue can be difficult to find. You need to come off the Ardleigh junction and then turn off to colchester, Across the r/bout, down the sliproad heading back on to the A120, Then slot left towards hotel etc.
We would just like to again thank the organisers and marshalls for a very enjoyable event. Graham and I enjoyed counting green dots, and the under and overs! The bumpy road certainly tested out the mini's suspension. ( thanks for reading caution note just as we finished that road Graham!). Nice to have a few twisty B roads to strech the legs, although very little legs on a Mini!
Hope the MG crew got back ok after your push start in the pub car park after the event.
Cheers
Jim and Graham
thanks to the organising team and marshals for another good night of rallying, and well done to Jim and Graham for their win in the Cooper S!
as Jim said some really nice lanes for a Mini, I hope everyone enjoyed it. It was our second outing and, once again, we didn't come last. Shame there were not more beginners...
see you in March!!
Sofia and Luis

Don't worry, I'm working on it. Or at least I was until the compressor went pop!
Big Congratulations to Jim and Graham in the Cooper S.
Hopefully Nikolas will be out and about for the summer, we're currently aiming to be ready for the Colchester Mini show and Helmingham Hall Classic Car Show.
Darryl.
I think that was my most challenging 12 car drive yet! Following last month's discussions on how the timecards work with make-up time and lateness etc. I made a conscious effort to keep up the pace and remember the directions being shouted from the passenger seat. Being spot on time most of the way around seems to show that this worked, although it was probably a contributory factor to us missing the code board that ultimately cost us 1st place, somewhere on the 3rd section. We lost the majority of our time on section 1 trying to anticipate more deviousness into the clues than there actually was, and in doing so took wrong turn and missed another code board.
Great work from nav Darren who managed to most of his plotting "on the fly" whilst directing me at the same time. Well done to the winners and thanks to Colin and Mike for organising it. Pleased that the roof box stayed on!
Didn't think I would be able to make the next one due to work, but as it starts in Chelmsford it might just work out!
Thanks to organisers and marshals, echo the above it was a bit challenging pulling out of the car park not hacing anything plotted straight away....also made the mistake of throwing a sheet of navigation in the back with another one, so we missed out a section entirely....wont do that one again!
Cheers
Rob
Ammended final results.
I have just emailled out the final results to all the competitiors. As noted below we have had to adjust the scoring slightly, which has resulted in a change of teh top 2 positions.
Cheers
Colin
Afternoon all.
Firstly, many thanks for all taking part.
Over the weekend it was identified that section 1 could be plotted 2 ways, one of which would have resulted in a codeboard being missed, so after consulting with "The Powers that be" and in order to maintain fairness, it was decided that the first codeboard needed to be discounted from the scoring..
That has had a particularly dramatic effect on the overall result, swapping over first and second place from the provisional results. Every other one remaining the same.
These are the ammended positions.
> Mike Bishop / Darren Armitage - 1F 5M
> Jim Drake / Grahma Robinson - 1F 11M
> Eddie Call / Adrian Bragg - 1F 21M
> Tony Birchnall / John Conboy - 3F 7M
> Kevin Ablitt / John Hodgson - 9F 25M
> Robert Spittal / Richard Gould - 11F 17M
> Nick White / Rob Galley - 11F 18M
> Luis Diaz / Sofia Rodriguez - 14F 14M
> Laura Palmer / Joe Philpott - 27F 35M
> Mike Helm / Mark Rutter - DNS / DNF
I must pass on my commiserations to Jim and Graham for being cruelly denied the win after a very good drive, and my congratulations to Mike and Darren for snatching victory from the jaws of yet another second place.
I hope to see you all on the next event and you can take out your frustrations by resoundly thrashing myself and Mike Helm.
Cheers
Colin
this rings some bells!!!
http://www.britishpathe.com/video/xxxv-monte-carlo-rally-aka-35th-monte-...
just joking, couldn't help it... ;-)
it's not my battle but as a newbie, can you please explain?
Where was the location of the board? and if there is an alternative route, shouldn't the shorter be the right one?
don't take it as a moan, i'm just trying to learn!!!
Congratulations to Mike and Darren for your victory, luckily I haven't drink your wine yet so I will bring it for you at the next one.
On a posative note at least being demoted will prolong Grahams novice navigators status! Sounds like it was a good thing nobody used Colin's expert clues!
I will probably have my daughter as navigator on the next one as Graham is away, so we will be entering as beginners, will be fighting it out with Luis and Sofia for best mini in class.
Luis I still remember the mini's disqualifications in Monte 66, but the mini came back and won in 67, so you never Know!
best wishes
Jim Drake
Thanks and commiserations to you both, Jim. I'm delighted to have finally broken our seemingly eternal run of "2nds", but am sorry to steal your victory this way after the event, the twist of fate can be sometimes cruel.
Hang on to the wine and enjoy a glass (or two) on us, we ended up with a couple of bottles ourselves for our 2nd place anyway on the night so did not miss out!
Best wishes and good luck for the next one.
Mike
Hopefully there will be an extra mini for next winters 12 car series, just got to teach my dad how to read a map and the basics on navigating!
All the best to you all for the next one,
Darryl.
