Chelmsford Motor Club & Eastern Counties Motor Club are pleased to announce the National Motorsports Week Challenge - a trophy to be awarded to the driver with the lowest aggregate score on Javalin's Jumbo Jymkhana, at Woodbridge on 1st July (the first day of NMW) and the Waterbeach Autosolo on 8th July (the last day of NMW).
The trophy will be presented at Chelmsford Motor Club's annual barbecue on 19th July at Chelmsford Rugby Club.
Paul
Thanks for CMC's thoughtful and generous donation of an award for the Challenge for NMW. In order that we widen the possibility of a trophy for entrants to both Woodbridge and Waterbeach, Eastern Counties would like to add a couple of extras.
We will now have awards for First, Second and Third.
I suspect that at least one of the winners will be a surprise.
Next week is National Motorsport Week, designed to encourage people to try Motorsport.
The first round of the Challenge is the JJJ next weekend.
The second is the ECMC/WSMC Autosolo and Autotest at Waterbeach and we want to try something different.
We want to enter the spirit of NMW by suggesting that, if you've wondered about Autosolos, you come along and Marshal in the morning so you can see the tests and understand what happens. In the afternoon you can sign on as a competitor and do the afternoon tests.
You will have a time card but we won't add you into the results. You will be able to see how well you are doing without anyone else knowing your times ( so you keep all your bragging rights), but you will do the same tests as the rest.
We will need to charge £10 to cover the Motorsport UK fees but you won't find a cheaper day of fun anywhere else.
The only proviso is that you belong a Motor Club already and since you are reading this you probably do.
There is space for further full entries but if you would like to try things out this is the ideal chance.
If you want further information or would like to register, post here.
Cheers, Tony.
this sounds like the perfect formula for my first attempt at an Autosolo. Car has developed some electrical problems but a new coil is due to be fitted at the weekend. Everything should be fine for Waterbeach, hoping to confirm my (half) entry soon...

Hi Luis,
We'll be delighted to see you. Just email a confirmation so that I know to send you the finals. We can sort out the paperwork on the day.
Cheers,
Tony.
Luis. If your cars not fixed or you don't want to use it you can share my scamp providing it finishes the JJJ this w/end. John
thanks for that, John. But we managed to find the problem with the car and it's now sorted. Hopefully we'll be able to make it to Waterbeach, do the event and, more important, make it back home!!
coil turned out not to be at fault. In fact we blamed the electronic ignition conversion kit that was fitted back in April, needless to say that I'm not very impressed...
so, by the time we've gone back into the good oil breaker points ignition.
we're marshaling tomorrow at the JJJ so see you there!
May I presume from his victory at the Waterbeach Autosolo and 3rd o/a on Woodbridge Gymkhana that Peter Zytekewicz is the winner of the challenge ? I hope Peter (& Barbara) can come down from Mulbarton to collect the trophy at the Barbecue on 19th July.
Ian Mepham deserves NMSW plaudits for his win at the 7Oaks Autosolo at North Weald together with 2nd o/a at Woodbridge -had the 7Oaks event been nominated for the challenge he might have won it unless some points co efficients had been put together!
Matt Endean Paul Sharp & Ben Dawson also put reasonable results together at both NW & Woodbridge and Tomas Marciniak with 2nd o/a at Waterbeach and some top times at Woodbridge ( spoiled by wrong tests) could have put him in the frame. John Peterson won the Autotest event at Waterbeach but was well down at Woodbridge whilst Andrew Dudley also did the Autotest event at Waterbeach but his result their didn't match his 7th o/a at Woodbridge.
