We are hoping to attract a good entry for what will be an unusual event - for several reasons:
1) It will break the 12-car norm of a fixed route with timing, to an open route between check points without timing, well, other than 5 hours to complete the "find the QR codes" exercise.
2) You can make it a family affair rather than just driver/navigator if you want a couple of passengers to join in the fun.
3) It's a "Taster" event, so we are making 20 entries available rather than the normal 12.
4) We have exclusive use of the start/finish venue so your entry fee will include refreshments and an after-event buffet.
5) Most notable of all, the only essential equipment you need will be a smart phone/tablet to run the event "app" Map, pencils, paper and romer are optional.

Entries are now open.
Out to recce locations for the QRacken Scatter today, and I am amazed at just how many fords there are in the Chelmer/Blackwater valleys, and how pretty the villages are - The Mill and St Nicholas Church at Little Braxted is beautiful. One ford we encountered was well over two feet deep - no-one need to try that - although apparently Crow remembers an Essex Rally using it back in the day.
Possibly the biggest news from today is that to compete in the QRacken, you do NOT need a smart phone - or even any phone at all !! The format has been tweaked so that the event can be tackled in the traditional way - using map, pencil and brain to work out your route, just like a normal scatter. Of course , if you are tech savvy the QR Codes read at the locations will do the admin for you.
Whichever way you cut it, the interesting villages and quaint rural lanes of this part of Essex are the same and constitute a near-perfect 50-odd miles of Sunday driving.
The QRaken Navigational Scatter will have a plug in the next issue of Motorsport UK's Revolution magazine - What's On section.
A scattering of pre-plotters on the similar Bullseye Scatter in 2021.
... has been postponed to Setember 10, 2023.
