Environmental Policy

CMC Environmental Policy Statement

Chelmsford Motor Club is delighted to support Essex Wildlife Trust (EWT), a local voluntary organisation which works hard to support natural environments of various types around the county, from saltmarshes to woodlands to freshwater environments. As it says on their website, EWT are “the county’s leading conservation charity” which protects “over 8,400 acres of land across 87 sites”. These include sites such as Little Waltham Nature Reserve, Danbury Ridge Nature Reserve, Hanningfield Reservoir Nature Reserve, Abbotts Hall Farm saltmarshes, Thorndon Country Park and many more.

Whilst doing what we can to limit our environmental impact within our club activities, we are aware we cannot reduce all our impact so contributing to environmental organisations is another way we wish to ‘do our bit’. Rather than a carbon offsetting scheme elsewhere in the country/world which could be dubious in its environmental impact, we are keen to support local projects with organisations we know really will use our donation in the very best way possible.

In 2024 we donated £350 to EWT (increased to over £700 due to donating via a match funding option) in acknowledgement of our environmental impact for the East Anglian Classic and we will be making donations on our major events from The Preston 2024 onwards.
