Lucy and I will put an entry in.
See you in January, or earlier at the Mince Pies night...
Indeed...looking forward to it already...regained the bug after last weekend! :)
As always we need marshals! If you are free the evening of the 25th then your help would be very much appreciated. The event starts and finishes at a pub in Takeley, and control locations are mostly a few miles north of the A120. We will give out choccy bars at each control, but afraid we will not have time to dispense hot tea or coffee, so bring your own! My contact details are in the regs. Thanks in advance!
Andy
... for a control or two.
Ellen & Colin.
Will gve you two controls seeing you're coming from deepest Suffolk.
Andy
I will be there.
Possibly with Spike
Great! Thanks Jim.
Andy
So far we have 7 entries: 5 experts plus 1 beginner plus 1 novice. Experts are not allowed awards, so we need more Beginners and Novices please! The navigation is not difficult, and can I remind Beginners that they can see the navigation 24 hrs in advance- see the regs. Considering the penalty for this is only 6 fails, you still have a good chance of picking up an award- an encouraging start for 2019!
Andy and Chris
Do you need any more marshals?
Yes please. We have 3 controls where we need marshals. I assume you are volunteering, so thank you! Please send me an email (address in the regs) so I can forward the control details to you.
. . . there are no class awards for experts but they are listed in the results, and they can win the 1st O/A award.
Hi Andy
I can help marshal if you like.
Scott
Hi Scott,
Many thanks. Please txt/email your contact details. My details in the regs.
Andy
The Final Regs should be up soon, plus the seeded entry list. 8 entries so far, so we can accept 4 more entries (please!). The navigation is straighforward and the route is obvious on most sections, so make sure you plot all the controls before you leave. Late entries are welcome, even on the night, but please arrive at the start early. Late entries will be accepted on a first-come-first-served-basis, so please text the chief marshal of your intentions, thanks.
Marshals information will be emailed today or tomorrow. Wrap up, it's going to be cold! So grateful thanks in advance.
Andy & Chris
The finals are here:

As of 2.30pm today, the M11 from the M25 to Stansted is closed for repair work after accident. No info available when re-opening.
The route instructions do not say that the 'y' junctions are consecutive junctions. It says: 'Go through the following 'y' junctions in order given' ie there may be YYY junctions to consider. The third instruction YYy is at map ref 712 272.5, and taking the 'y' road goes past the code board VB. The next junction is the fourth instruction yYY where you can only turn right otherwise you go back on rally route. Hope this makes sense! However the awards as given out last night are correct, and congratulations to the Russell's on an outright win - 0 Fails 1 Minute dropped - superb result!

Thanks for explaining it! I think we are so used to clues that give all of the junctions/spot heights etc (of whatever is being used as a basis for the clue) for a section of route that it is easy to forget that this doesn't have to be the case...a very good reminder of the need to be open to different styles of clues! Always good to learn/be reminded of something from a 12 car, especially when it has still been an enjoyable one too! :)
Thanks to you yourselves (Andy & Chris) for organising and for all those involved in marshalling.
Congratulations in particular to Rob and Zoe - great to see you getting an overall win. Well done also to Rob and Paul for getting out and having a go...I hope you continue to return for these events - there'll always be help available if you ask for it - we've all been a beginner at some point and likely all remember how tough it was! Thanks also to the other crews for some good competition. After a ridiculously heavy week, Luis was quite right when he said that the 12 car was much needed therapy - it really was!
Andy - could you confirm the dashes plotting on TC2-3. It had a couple of us stumped on the night though looking at it with fresh eyes (albeit tired ones!) is it along the lines of a dash representing where we had to go back and forth across the same grid line (i.e. in and out of the same grid square so not really leaving it properly)?
R, T, (SGW at 2nd junction), R, T, R, T, R, B, L, R, R. Try this!
You know where TC3 is and direction of approach, so when in GS6227 you have to leave by B. And you cross grid line 62 twice: L, R.
Ah thanks Andy...so it was more a case of missing letters as opposed to the line meaning something different! Thanks for the explanation :)
Thanks Andy, Chris and all the marshalls for another enjoyable CMC 12 car. It was a bit different for us, nice and warm and roomy in the Alfa rather than roughing it in the Spitfire, but it did get a bit wobbly on some of the narrower/bendy lanes as the Alfa's lights are rubbish. Nonetheless, I enjoyed it and look forward to the next one.
January Jaunt Results are now here.
