You will ideally need a 155 D3, a D2 will also work. A D2 doesn't work.

If you do order a new one, Dash4it have been shipping the D2 underscore despite their latest version promise, and emails confirming they are shipping the D3. They have replaced within a week each time.

Yes Pat, we have the entry form okay, but we do need to wait until we have the entry fee with us to make the entry proper and complete, and to be fair to all entrants. If you or Stuart can get it to the address on the entry form as soon as possible that would be good.

Full and 3 reserves!

3 more entries in post today.

I opened them in the order of furthest from the letter box first and Rich and Mike got the last remaining certain entry.

Adam / Robert was next openned with Paul and Scott getting the 2nd reserve spot. 3rd reserve will be the last one still in the post somewhere I Guess.......

If anyone with an entry has the slightest doubt they won't make it, PLEASE let me know asap.

I may well be bugging the reserves to help with marshalling... :-)

Wrap up warm, drive to a pre-arranged location, wait for 12 rally cars to pass by, mark the time they arrive on a timecard and enjoy the atmosphere - that's about it in a nutshell!

Colin is organising this one, he's a decent chap - drop him a line and he'll talk you through it and be grateful for the help :-)

Hi JPS, nice to here from you. We would welcome you at any event in any capacity. If you are interested in getting involved, then marshalling is a good place to start. I can get you paired up with someone else. If you let me know where you live a will speak with someone near you. We also have a club meeting at Lt Baddow next Thursday evening. Unfortunately I will not be there but if you let me know if you want to go ,again i will give you names to meet up with. As previous posts, we are a very active club and do more events based around road rally regs, Targas, Enduro,, Historic.
Do you have a car yourself, It dosent have to be rally prepared. If you want further information you can pm me on

Yes, I am organising this one.

Give me a shout if you want a bit more info about this specific event, and I'll go through it with you.

The HRCR guide is also a good starting point.

And if you fancy sitting in the LH seat and reading the maps you will suddenly have lots of new friends!

My email address is on the entry form (along with my mobile number)

Cheers

Colin

p.s. an extra marshall would be very welcome!! :-)

Visit the start

Visit the start & finish venue as well, as there is far more time to talk to people & see the cars there than when marshalling at the roadside.

Hi Colin - apologies - very busy weekend so forgot to call you. I live in Rowhedge, just on edge of Colchester, but have wheels so can get myself anywhere really. I had hoped to come to Ardleigh to see people before the event starts if possible - but can head off to a lonely junction somewhere if necessary!.

You will all be glad to know that I have been praying for the dry spell to finsih so we can have a nice wet night.

If you feel you are driving along a riverbed at one point, you probably are, there was quite a bit of flooding when I checked out the route about a month ago... :-)

After the wheel damaging exploits of last month, I will be paying extra attention for pot holes and will advise of any to be avoided.

Sadly (!) he is a beginner according to the rules of teh series, and he has never done any timed 12-cars, so not at that much of an advantage.

As Colin says, this is his first timed event, so beginners class is suitable I think as I think it will be quite daunting for him first time out and judging by the texts I've had from him, he certainly doesnt feel that confident!

With me being at work and the sudden deluge of rain, I've no time to change to my 'grippy' tyres either so it could be interesting/fun/slippy/scary! :-)

Hopefully it was a good warm up for the "proper" stuff.. :-)

Firstly I need to extend my thanks to all the marshalls who willing stood in ankle deep mud (where there had been nice dry laybys 2 months ago, honestly) on a particularly wet and cold night.

I hope everyone enjoyed themselves, I tried to provide something slightly different, but not too different. there are some fantastic lanes out there in Suffolk, so perhaps we will return there next year.

I will get the results together asap, so Tony can publish them. May be a day or 2.

Finally congratulations must go to Mike Helm and Mark Rutter, who managed to win despite loosing 12 minutes on the first section plotting the correct route (It was supposed to be an easy one to start for the navigators!) and just avoided OTL by 1 minute into TC8.

Cheers

Excellent

An excellent route, nav testing enough for me certainly, hence our pretty poor result. Big thanks as always to the team for the hard prep work and marshalling so cheerfully.

We learned that 45 series tyres are not a good idea when there are multiple potholes - I just didn't get time to put the bouncy wheels on yesterday.

One thing annoyed me - was OTL at the bar in the pub! Standing waiting to be served when he rang the bell and then told I couldn't have anything. Which is a bit off, I think, considering we brought an extra 30 or so punters in. More incentive not to drop time in future......

Closing Time

I agree with everything said so far - cracking route, and we didn't get a beer either. Maybe with that and the chaos in the car park at the start we should consider whether the Ardleigh Crown is a good start/finish venue. I know it wasn't Colin's first choice, hence the rather long runout and back on the A12. Brian I have all the stakes and boards ready for the next one - will arrange to get them to you when you get back from your hols.

12 car thanks

Thanks to all the marshals for being there, no marshals no motor sport.... (marshals needed for the Woodbridge Targa ;-) )

I enjoyed the variety of fast flowing lanes and slippy surfaces, it was great fun playing 'catch the Mini in front and run away from the TT' and 'chase the Mini round the LWR, now you go now I go. From what I gathered at the pub, I got to enjoyed a pint of lager, it was definitely a night for drivers. Pleased with a 4th place, I believe, we were not expecting it as we thought we had missed too many codes so as results were read in reverse order John's face was gradually change.

Thanks Colin for organising.

See you at the next one...

Luis (red Mini)

Yet another great night and another chance to steal copious amounts of Suffolk mud and import it back to Essex via the underneath of my car! :)

Pleased with our result and thought we did ok considering it was Ellis's first 'under pressure' event. No damage done to the car either which is good as I'm off to Holland in it on Friday. ;-)

12 Car Thanks

A great night's rallying and despite a silly error by myself on section one we somehow managed a win. Mr Helm certainly put his TR through its paces and his sump guard has flattened out some of Suffolk's bumpy roads. That clues were just what I would expect from Colin and we enjoyed the farm tour! but I would say spotting spot height 27 in the last section was just above the junction was a bit of an ambitious expectation in the dark. I even struggled to see it in the daylight on the kitchen table and I have perfect eyesight.
Thanks Colin and the marshals for a great night and like all good wins it was totally unexpected.

Nice to meet/talk to some of you on Friday - and thanks to Pat, Keith and Julie for explaining what was going on at the TC!

Unfortunately my wife has pointed out that 30th March is Mothering Sunday so there's no way I can swing a day of motorsport, either as a competitor or a marshall....! Hope to get along to more events soon though to get a better idea of what goes on.
