As a kick-off to the 2014/15 Winter Series we are organising a Tabletop Rally. This will be at The General's Arms, on Thursday 14th August starting at 8.30 pm. It is open to all, but only beginners, novices and experts (navigators) can earn points for the Winter Series.
Regs and entry forms will be posted on here in the next few days. The entire route will be on map 167. I will let you know which versions of the map you will need in the regs/finals.
As the lighting of The General's Arms is more suited to romantic dining than plotting on maps you may want to bring a head torch or a poti with a 12 volt power source.
Drivers will be needed to act as runners but the main work will be done by the navigators.
John Conboy is hoping to set up a Navigating Breakfast Encounter before the tabletop, and beginners might find this useful.
The first actual rally (i.e. a car is needed) of the Winter series will be the Priestley on 26th September.
Cheers
Paul Brewerton

So far we have;
Dave Thompson/TBA
John Conboy/TBA
Away on holiday in August.
Proposing Sat 9th August. I am also willing to do Targa nav as well if people intereseted. Would need to know numbers.
So far the response for entries is a little disappointing. This is in addition to the usual club night, so unless we reach a minimum of 5 entries the event will not run. This is the opening round of the 12 Car Winter Series and as such carries the same points value as the regular 12 car rallies. Final decision will be made at the committee meeting 7th August so get your entries in before that.
Paul
Ade and I are also unable to make 14th August. Any other Thursday would be okay for me.
stuart is away for that date so we cant do it either
I'm happy to do it. Put me down as a driver or a navigator. A championship contender without regular driver/nav may wish to "claim" me.
Jim
Hi Paul, I would like to do it but I have something on the same night. Would it be possible to hold it on the Club night the following week?
Regards,
Graham Robinson
Absolutely love table tops and years since I did one but unfortunately away until end of August. Hope it goes ahead and goes well!
Ellen & I will take part if it runs.
Colin.
Hi Paul, if you need to make up numbers, I can probably make it - but likely to be on my own :-(
Please can you put Jim drake and daughter(beginner) down as an entrant for the table top rally on 14th if it is running.
We now have :
John Conboy/Jon Bray novice
Dave Thompson/TBA novice
Ellen Tilney/Colin Sutton novice
Mike Bishop/TBA novice
Jim Drake/Beth Drake beginner
Tony Hyatt/Ken Shields beginner
so the event will run as we have reached the minimum number. If any experts/masters are likely to enter please let me know so I can prepare some fiendish clues for you. Jim Bowie - Thanks for your offer above but I'd like to enlist your help in running the event on the night. The route has been checked on editions C2 underlined and C3. If you are using an earlier version see me before the start for additional information to make the clues work. Paul
Unfortunately I cannot make this due to work commitmemts, although I am currently looking into finances for the winter 12 car series as I'm always off Friday Nights.
Not sure about who'll Nav me yet, but I'm still a little way off from where I want to be with the car at the minute.
Hi Paul
Should be ok for Thursday for the table top, could you pair me up with John Conboy as i am navigating for him this year in the 12 car series.
Regards
Jon Bray
The finals for tomorrow's tabletop rally are here. Please arrive in good time to start at 8.30. We have 6 entries, but I will bring paper work for a couple more if anyone wants to put in a late entry.

Great fun. Genuinely enjoyable night's entertainment, thanks again Paul.
Yeah, thanks Paul also from me! It made a nice change from driving to have a play with the maps, found a few bits challenging and a few bits easy - more practice required I think!
