Help ! Preston Course Car Driver URGENT

I AM SUDENLY WITHOUT A DRIVER TO CARRY ME AROUND in my role as Chief Marshal FOR THE PRESTON RALLY ON 7TH DECEMBER.

A well prepared road rally car with knobblies is preferable but a quietish non signwritten stage car or other vehicles can be considered.

A would be competitor without a navigator would be fine. We can lose an entry to fulfil this important role. I will contribute towards petrol & rally insurance.

Please email me on

or phone 07799535190 if you can help. I will post this on the M & H Forum.

Course Car Still Required -and some "guilty competitor marshals"

I'm still looking.

I have had a kind offer from Mac Jessop but as he's never driven The Preston and the car he offered was almost too nice I am still keen to hear from prospective drivers.

Matt Beebe also offered but he still wants to compete so he needs a decent navigator asap.

May I also support Craig's plug for more marshals. I particularly like to see some competitors from our Targa Rallies and Stage Rallies that we dont see too often. This event ( and the X Part in Feb) are the big events we run which need every man woman and child it can get. If you ONLY EVER COMPETE on CMC events THIS IS THE TIME TO GIVE A BIT BACK TO THE CLUB.

May I chase one or two of our Polish friends to marshal too. Tomasz marshalled on The Preston last year so some of the others should take a turn please.

Thanks

Jim

Fixed but with a new bit to fix

Unfortunately Richard Atherton has had to withdraw so we have teamed him up with Jim, just like last year. The new bit to fix requires a course car for the closing crew, as we will have to use the Rover Centre loan car for Richard and Jim. This is less of a problem as a 4wd is ok for closing but not opening. All vehicle offers gratefully received as we have an excellent crew in Luis and John C, they just need reliable wheels. The mini is a bit low for the Preston, but we might press it into service Luis! Please do get in touch if you can help.

Closing Car

Hi Bob, Sorry the mini is off the road after I crashed it on the Targa at Woodbridge.

Closing car

I had a conversation with Brian a couple of weeks ago, and was working on the basis that we were doing closing, or second closing, in our Freelander. Is that not still the case?

Colin.

Justin & Conrad THANKS Preston Closing Car Update

Thank you for the offers from the guys in this thread. Until I speak to Bob Blows Monday I cannot confirm exactly what our additional needs in the closing dept are but Colin Sutton is definitely driving his Freelander.

Having completed the marshal allocations we are "just about OK" as long as everyone that has volunteered can do what we will ask of them. A few more offers would not go amiss, particularly as several marshals are on their own , or in ordinary cars, so a few more 4x4 users happy to help would be good. Perhaps Conrad you would be OK to marshal in your Touareg - I can team you up and guarantee several off road locations.

Many thanks also to Justin for offering his MG ZR to be driven by "unknown persons" on the Preston. Too generous to accept - you have not seen where it might go . . .get yourself out in it next year.

This time last year, I told

This time last year, I told myself that we would be out to play in the Herald. Unfortunately the pressures of everything else in life has taken priority and the only progress made with the development of the car was to aquire some knobblies! Would have loved to come out and marshall instead to see what the crack is, bud sadly find myself working 12 hr night shifts all next weekend. Hope everyone involved has a good time and I had better get my skates on to get ready for the next one!
