Rover 214 Enduro / Stage / Road Rally Car - For Sale

The time has come to sell my rally car, lack of time and money to run two rally cars means one of the fleet needs to go......

So here goes:-

As most of you will know I have built the car myself, with help along the way from The Rover Centre (Owen & Jamie) for the build and on-going repairs, and the cage and seat mounts were professionally installed by Peter at Fabricage. The car has done a lot of work and events, and has served me very well and provided me with some excellent results including an outright win on a CMC Gymkhana, and many top 5/10 endurance finishes. With a good driver the car could be a winner.....

The shell is a bit bruised and battered from being a rally car for the last 5 years, so don’t expect a concourse car. However it has always passed scrutineering and always received positive and favourable feedback from Motorsport UK Scrutineers for the quality of build.

Ideal for a beginner or someone new to the sport, or someone looking to build a new car, this would make an ideal re-shell as it has EVERYTHING you would need.

Road Tax : Oct 2012
MOT: April 2013

Good points

- Very strong engine, suspected to be an earlier 1.4 K-series engine, with the better flowing early head and manual tensioner, which is key to prevent the cam belt slipping. This engine produced 121.9bhp (fly) on Emerald’s rolling road last year, I have the print out to prove it, and with the new free’er flowing exhaust I suspect it would now bit even a bit higher than that.
- New rear beam only recently fitted by The Rover Centre (very straight) and excellent handbrake, best I’ve had on a rally car.
- Car built to Rover Centre spec.
- Gaz suspension, with the improved Coil Springs of Sheffield custom spec front springs which remove the chance of going coil bound.
- Emerald ECU, mapped by Dave Walker at Emerald in Norfolk on their rolling road. It was even featured in Dave’s PPC feature in January 2012. Comes with 3 maps, and all settings, plus ECU to computer cable. (I will supply all maps, but not the laptop).
- Motorsport UK Stage Log-booked (pre-2009 log book), with FIA spec seats & belts.
- Gearbox is the late spec with closer ratios and stronger casing made by Gartrac.
- Recent full service, including all engine HT electrics.
- Receipts and paperwork for everything!

Bad points

- Paint work is scratched and bumpers are a bit battered, after all it has been a rally car!
- Fuel tank is dented, so only carries ~30 litres of fuel - this is fine to do more than 100 competitive miles, so apart from on VERY long events doesn’t cause an issue.
- Both seats and belts are likely to need to be replaced at the end of the year, unless the Motorsport UK changes their mind on these rules...... This only applies to stage rallies, they are more than legal for all other forms of motorsport.
- Very very occasionally when driven very hard in 1st it will jump out of 1st gear, all other gears fine.

An update today from the MSA

An update today from the Motorsport UK confirms that the seats will be Motorsport UK Stage Rally legal for another year (till the end of 2013). The belts however will still need replacing from the end of this year - for stage rallies only.
